Mike Gammill
Greetings, all, and welcome to our new thread. Post all the images you like from any film camera. I'll start with some film I processed and scanned yesterday. First a couple of images from a roll of Kentmere 100 that I shot in my Maxxum 8000i with 50mm f 1.7 lens. I used a Maxxum 2000i flash. Yesterday afternoon fellow Photo.netter James Bryant and I met for cofffee at the Starkville Strange Brew coffee house. We discussed camera gear, black & white processing, and whatever else photographic that we could think of. For fun I set the 8000i on the counter and got a self timer portrait of James and I sitting at the table, each with a camera. He is holding a Nikkormat FT2 and I am holding a Konica Auto S1.6. Framing was a hit or miss (I am partially cut off in left edge of frame.) Anyway, here is the image: We've met for coffee here before, btw. It's a good place to sit, talk, and enjoy good coffee. The two servers present yesterday were willing subjects for the next photo. service with a smile I wonder how many other photo.net members live close enough to meet from time to time? Some photos from a roll of Kentmere 100 that I shot in my Fujica ST 605N with 50mm f 1.4 Takumar. pond (from my early morning cycling trip around West Point The gears on my bicycle were acting up but I managed to get in about five miles or so. back-lighted metal bench raw materials (got a little lens flare) I should have used a hood. more work a windmill scuplture One more angel That's all for now. mjferron
Nice to see some socialization amongst the participants here. And Mike I like that casual portrait of the “3” servers. Very nice.
graham_evans2
Nikon F2 with a Nikkor 55mm f/1.2 on Ilford Pan F50. Epson V700. Same kit all 3 images. This large model was pretty good. Had the engine noise and creaked and groaned when moving. Heads of the 2 in the turret looked around, keeping lookout. This was at a steam steam rally event. The engine here was powering a large log saw and some Karen downwind complained about the smoke around her caravan. They moved and replaced it with a vintage tractor. Hope she enjoyed the exhaust fumes. Classic
Mike Gammill
Thanks, mj. I thought about hanging a camera around the neck of the "third server". Maybe on my next visit.
rick_drawbridge
Great that you and and James could meet up, Mike! I don't think there are too many other New Zealanders participating in the CMC Forum, so I guess I'll have to keep on going it alone. Perhaps we should start a thread where we post a portrait of ourselves, just to reveal the face behind the camera. Anyway, here are some from a walkabout with a Pentax Super A camera with a Sigma 35-70mm Zoom Master f/2.8-4 lens I'd had to partially disassemble to free up a stuck aperture. It performed rather better than I'd anticipated. The film was Kentmere 100 developed in PMK Pyro. At the moment of capturing the photograph, it may seem like an eye turd - but with time, it will ad context to the photograph. 1 Niels

At the moment of capturing the photograph, it may seem like an eye turd - but with time, it will ad context to the photograph. Another "time marker", especially in older photos is the sign outside a movie theater. Great way to get the general idea as to when a photo was taken. Also, signs and billboards can also provide clues.

mjferron
Rick, you have to lay off image references to fish & chips and sausage rolls. It is torture! Being originally from Costal New England fish an chips was often a Friday night supper. Now one would think good fish and chips would be hard to come by here in Central Texas but a nearby restaurant called Garbo’s who specialize in New England Seafood serve a wonderful plate using wild caught Cod. (Yes I understand this is not the fish and chips forum)
rick_drawbridge
I recently took apart a little zoom lens that had been sitting in a box for a couple of years, patiently waiting for me to clean a few threads of fungus, luckily only on the rear of the two front elements. It's a 35-70mm Vivitar Macro Focusing Zoom f/3.5-4.5 with a serial #94304321. It's a nicely made lens, typical of the era, but can't determine who manufactured it. Two-touch Vivitar short zooms of the period were typically f/3.5-4.8, and the serial number is outside the published lists matching Vivitar lenses with their manufacturers, though I've come across a couple of hints that it may be a Komine lens. Anyway, as it has a Canon FD mount, after cleaning and reassembly I took it out on a Canon T90 loaded with Kentmere 100. It performed very well, and I 'd be curious to know if anyone has any further information. The film was developed in PMK Pyro. m42dave
The Pentacon 50/1.8 focuses to 0.33m, making it a versatile standard lens for close-ups. This particular copy seems noticeably better than the earlier "Electric" version I used to have. Cactus Blossoms

According to Stephen Gandy's CameraQuest site, Vivitar lens serial numbers starting in 9 indicate manufacture by Cosina. It looks like a fine lens. m42dave
The Vivitar f/3.5-4.8 version was also made by Cosina, and supplied under different brand names and as a kit lens for the Olympus OM-2000, Nikon FM-10, and others.
