Mike Gammill
Soon I plan to run some film through my Voitgtlander Vitessa L that belonged to my dad. He bought it in the mid 50's and it was his only 35mm camera until he bought a Mamiya Sekor 1000 TL in the late 60's. I've fired the shutter a few times in the L from time to time but it's overdue for some film.
mjferron
One more set from the Oly RC loaded with HP5+ exposed @250 and developed in HC110 Dilution E (1-47). I am more than pleased with the fine grain considering other results i have experienced with this film. Conditions were bright sun.
allancobb
A superb photograph, Allan, and what a great way to remember your father. I, too, still have my father's camera, a Certo Super Sport Dolly. I am sure it brings back great memories. I have my Dad's Nikkormat FT2 that I use when I want to remember him. Great picture. Thank you Rick and James! It's amazing how such simple cameras can mean so much, especially when they can still be used to further the memory. I also have my mother's Leica IIIg that she kept until recently... she's nearly 92 and finally decided it was time for me to take it over. :)
bruce_z._li2
In a moment of neglect, I accidentally used stock fixer to mix my "developer". And my entire roll is clear film base. :( Now back to shooting another roll. Hopefully something to post later this weekend. A good lesson learned! kklow
I recently tried out a rather unorthodox film, Film Washi S. This film (ISO 50) was originally a sound recording film that is very high contrast and very fine grain. The film cannot handle contrasty situations well at all with absolutely no mid tones and is best used in a diffused lighting situation.I developed them in Rodinal 1:100 and the results were a real mixed bag with the bad ones overwhelming the good ones. Here is a selection of the acceptable images. Man in Black .... Contax G2 28mm f/2.8 Biogon Hope & Lives .... Contax G2 28mm f/2.8 Biogon Net Fishing .... Nikon FM2n 55mm f/2.8 Micro Nikkor Lion .... Contax G2 45mm f/2 Planar Roller .... Nikon F 50mmf/1.4 Non Multi Coated (NMC) Hooks .... Nikon F 50mm f/1.4 NMC Back to You .... Nikon F 50mm f/1.4 NMC Short Spire ..... Nikon F 50mm f/1.4 89 .... Olympus OM2n 180mm f/2.8
rick_drawbridge
Great results from the Washi S, kklow. Extrordinary lack of grain; I wonder if a little experimentation with softer development might produce more mid tone. Here are a few from the Pentax Super A with the 35-70mm SMC Pentax-A f/4 I pictured in the "What camera..." thread. The film was Kentmere 100 developed in PMK Pyro. Now I just need to find an opportunity to use the film!
bruce_z._li2
Japanese Garden using Kodachrome 64 in B&W chemistry (Rodinal 1+50). A bit contrasty, but quite sharp and fine grained. The camera was Nikon FE2, and lens was Nikkor 50/1.2 AiS. Ricochetrider
Just got a roll of Tri-X 400 developed- and I'd actually forgotten what all was on the roll. Shot with my Voigtlander R3m, I believe with the 40mm f1.4 Nokton Classic (mc) lens. Most of the roll,I shot at a winter motorcycle swap meet held in what felt like a brightly lit (fluorescent lighting) room... I do recall thinking that, for all the apparent light, the camera didn't seem to be picking it up. And the photos appear to reflect that difficulty! Here are some of the best of the lot- a few of which I've auto-adjusted for light. The swap is a nice "cabin fever" event, held each year in January. A gang of my friends come in from as far away as 200-300 miles. We get together the evening prior for beers, attend the swap and see everybody, then we have lunch and go our separate ways, It's mostly vintage dirt bike stuff but there's a decent variety of bikes- especially in the "show" or display area. there's also usually a fair showing of mostly 60s & 70s British bike stuff on hand too which is where our interest lies. All in all, a good weekend and basically my whole world of motorcycling friends (from all the niche groups- street, dirt, Brit, vintage, modern, 1% Harley "bikers", BMW, etc etc etc) comes out so it's really fun to catch up with everyone- almost all of whom would never otherwise be gathered in one place!
