robert_ante
My Voightlander VC meter (the original one) is exactly one stop off, e.g. instead of f5.6, it reads f4. I could just set at next ISO, say 50 instead of 100, but I would have to remember this when I use or adjust meter and I know I will slip up. On back of meter there is a flap held by screw. Does this hide an adjustment screw? Meter agrees with all my other readings except one stop off. Is there any way to calibrate this meter?
rodeo_joe1
How do you know it's off? Compared to what? How are your exposures turning out using the Voigtlander settings? With the new price asked for one of those meters, you'd hope it would have been checked at the factory!
royall_berndt
The zero setting may be off. Cover its eye and see if the meter does anything. I bought a VC II, and the price staggered me. There must be better deals if I weren't so lazy to seek them. Lots of clip-on meters have been made over the years.
rodeo_joe1
There must be better deals if I weren't so lazy to seek them. A quick search online showed there are at least 2 virtually identical and competing knock-offs available, at a fraction of Voigtlander's (Cosina's?) price. It just shows the added 'value' that a fancy, but nowadays meaningless, name tag can command. There are also thousands of perfectly useable 2nd hand light meters out there for the picking. BeBu Lamar
I wonder which camera would this be used on? Unless you use it on a Voigtlander the brand name model is meaningless. Also I personally don't like the hot shoe mounted meter. At least it should have the coupling with the shutter speed dial like the one made by Leica for their M cameras. Otherwise a good hand held meter is much better and in my opinion in good taste. But the OP already has one so, may be contacting Voigtlander for service? rodeo_joe1
The shutter-speed dial design of these camera-mounted meters greatly reduces their versatility. If the exposure lies outside of 1 ~ 1/2000th s @ f/1 ~ f/22, they're pretty useless. Whereas a Lunarsix or similar will measure exposures into many seconds, or even minutes. And sticking a meter atop a camera to dumbly point forward at the subject isn't a great idea either. Certainly not worth 240 quid to just get a vague idea of the correct exposure.
