Norma Desmond
Volcanoes, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes LOL. Sandy, you're right. Nature causes harm and not just humans do. The problem here is that intent is being conflated with results. Phil's mistake in saying only humans do harm is that it's obvious to most of us that nature doesn't INTEND harm which, of course, doesn't mean that nature doesn't DO or CAUSE harm. Humans are the only ones, so far as we know, that can determine whether harm was done, but they're certainly not the only factor that can do or cause harm. Basic mistake of logic. We didn't need dialogue. We had faces!
Norma Desmond
Ahh, just read Phil's backtracking post. Good. What exactly is your point Sandy, other than saying that nature can do us harm? Well yeah duh. Humans on the other hand won't merely do each other harm, no, we'll do it maliciously, and it doesn't matter whether you're left or right either way you're probably completely blinded and fooled by your ideologue and the fashion of the day (which currently is the moronic extreme leftist aganda of compelled politically correct speech and action which in turn gives rise to the equally moronic extreme right and vice versa, it's like the chicken or egg, you choose). I'd suggest an anger management class but that's probably too PC! We didn't need dialogue. We had faces!
Norma Desmond
Uhm no, see my post above. I never said that nature can't do harm. Straw man. You implied it (again, basic logic) when you said "All harm that's ever been done has been done by humans." But you've successfully backtracked from that, which is appreciated. We didn't need dialogue. We had faces!
Norma Desmond
Anyway, I liked the germ of the idea contained in the OP, that people are awesome. Don't care much for all your negativity. Don't mind negativity per se, just gotta know when it makes sense to bring it up. Peace out! We didn't need dialogue. We had faces!

Sandy Vongries
Jesus, Don't care much for all your negativity. That in essence, the point of my posts - you cut to the essentials beautifully. Nature is inexorable. Waves of species have survived or not. I generally know better than getting into one of these. "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio than are dreamed of in" ... Allen Herbert
If we always agreed with each other....well, it would be very boring. We all have a right to express our thoughts. Indeed if they are challenged the challenge offers new thoughts and a learning curve. Love to be proved wrong in my thoughts it means I have moved on. OK. We get it. You misspoke and now you’re backtracking and think you can hide it with a “duh.” Did you ever notice that’s what politicians do? They were never wrong, just misunderstood. Here’s what they really meant! Anyway, speaking of the fashion of the day, if you don’t recognize how fashionable it is to turn requests for respect or threads about human awesomeness into so-called political correctness, you haven’t been paying attention. And if you don’t know how influenced by and influencing of groupthink Nietszche was, think again Mr. Ubermensch! If you can’t admit a simple mistake, you’ve got a long way to go before accusing others of clinging to things like ideologies. As Mark suggested, reread the thread, particularly your own posts, and note when things turned sour. The malicious posts are in your angry voice having a misplaced tantrum where the mood had once been celebratory. We didn't need dialogue. We had faces! Norma Desmond
What happened here, plainly and simply, is that you brought your anger into this thread from a thread weeks ago about political correctness and identity.
