G-P
All i am saying is you now have 3 photos in your profile which are private which is why they were not visible to public view. Now, if you can't see them in your profile - that is something I can and will investigate. The bigger question I have is - how could you have tried out gallery sort or photos sort if you can't see them?
Laura Weishaupt
The 3 images currently in my portfolio are public and always have been. Please see the screen shots earlier in this thread. I just checked my profile page and it says I have nothing, how could you have tried out gallery sort or photos sort if you can't see them? The only galleries that I've tried to sort were created after all others were deleted. There are currently 4 and I created them when this thread started. I mentioned these in earlier posts in this thread. One of them holds the 3 images. Those are the images I have tried to sort. I don't know if the galleries are public or private because I have never seen an option to make them one way or another, also mentioned earlier. My profile page indicates that I have nothing. Images that could not be seen were supposed to be in galleries from V1. After the move I never saw the images. Those galleries appeared black and were deleted with the rest months ago. Sorry if my last post created confusion. Edited September 19, 2017 by Laura Weishaupt
Laura Weishaupt
Again this morning I tried to use the sort function for images and galleries. It doesn't work. Both images and galleries drag, then bounce back. My profile page shows 0 images and no galleries despite having 3 public images and 4 galleries. I can't do anything further to remedy the situation and I've offered all the useful information I have in this thread. If you find something that I have missed, please let me know. frigo
Laura, After I read your post,I went and checked the sort functions on my portfolio.I created a new folder to see how the Gallery sort worked with it empty and it worked for me;the drag function is a little iffy and it took a few tries to locate it exactly where I wanted(i guess the small size of the icons makes it tedious),but it worked. Then I tried the photo sort and here also,I experienced a few bounces, but finally succeeded. Here also, the size of the thumbnail makes it hard;I found that to succeed on the first try,the displaced image has to be perfectly centered between the images you want it positioned..Tedious but possible and I hope this will be tuned as the tech team works itself out of the long list of issues still haunting the site.Hope this helps! Laura Weishaupt
Frigo, Thank you for the advice. I just tried to move the 3 images I have. No matter where I place them, and no matter how carefully I move them, they still bounce back to their original position. Even placing the image on the end or at the front does not work. As for the galleries, I tried as you suggest, and had very limited success. The 4 galleries are constrained in a box after the first move. I can't move any to the 1st or 4th position. Going to the 2nd or 3rd position frequently results in the wrong placement. As you say, this is very tedious and lacks the reward of success. I would not call this a fix, but a step towards it. I do now have a public/private option for the galleries, which I did not have this morning. this morning. I made all the galleries public, but still, 0 images and 0 galleries show on the profile page. Maybe after a log out and a log back in they will appear. I logged out, went to another site, returned to log back in, and still nothing shows on the profile page. I checked the public/private status of the galleries and they had all reverted to being private despite my changes. There is no place to save the change, if that is necessary. Laura Weishaupt
I use Firefox 55.0.3. I have Windows 8. Possibly of note: I have a 64 bit system. When I checked to see my firefox version, it says it is for 32. I know when we downloaded firefox on this computer we selected the appropriate version. I'll try to look into this, but can't do so until this evening. I also opened the profile page on Chrome and got 0 images and 0 galleries. Good luck.....being sincere, not snarky. Laura Weishaupt
A little bit of progress has been made.....profile page shows galleries and photos. Gallery and image sorting only results in bouncing back to original position. Sigh.
Laura Weishaupt
I made a mistake with the OS above, it's Windows 7, not 8....sorry. I'll have a new computer with windows 10 in the next couple of weeks, so I'll see how things go.
Not Here
I made a mistake with the OS above, it's Windows 7, not 8....sorry. I have a Dell with Win10, all up to date, and have not had any of the issues reported here in Help. Now, that doesn't mean Ver2 PN will DO what you want, but what it does do is consistent and what the programmers intended (however misguided). I think Edge is the difference. I was surprised when Glenn said only 3% of the users are using Edge, it's not a bad browser. Mike Edited September 23, 2017 by Not Here
Laura Weishaupt
Hi Mike, Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not familiar with Edge, but will look into it before the spiffy new machine arrives. I've always been a dedicated Firefox user, dabbling in IE and Chrome when necessary. I just want things to work as intended....well, at least here on pnet.
