Bill Bowes
Hello again. The Obsidian Aqua is concentrated, that is one of it's good features. One can find disposable 1ml, plastic pipettes on Ebay for about $5-10 for 25. The two I currently use are now 3 years old, and the other 22 sit around. With this small pipette, it is very EZ to measure just that 1ml, but the OA is diluted into 450ml of DI water, so any slight over/under amount of the stock OA is not a worry to me. My method of developing uses the time pouring in the developer (after a 3 min DI pre-soak) as part of the ENTIRE developing time. 15-25 seconds is "normal" for my 450ml Nikor tank. The developer is very diluted and works almost like a semi-stand developer although I use a once over per minute agitation schedule during the 13-16 minute time I choose. I use a modified Zone System of exposure & the 13-16 min developing times are for -/+ of Normal development. My negs are still exposed/developed for a density that I used for years in wet printing. The V600 scanner yields a fantastic file to work with. You are working with the PyrocatHD which has almost identical results (I use it also), so somewhere in the future, take some brave pills & mix up a batch. . .you will be surprised! rick_drawbridge
Well, I think I've got the Berrger Pancro400/PMK Pyro combination sorted, and I'm mightily impressed. A little juggling with development temperatures and times seems to have reduced the grain I was a little concerned about in my first test run, and this, the fourth film, produced some of the best negatives I've created in months. Like Pinklather, I've pretty much standardized on Ilford HP5 Plus as a 400ISO rollfilm, with Arista EDU 400 a close second, but the I suspect that's all about to change. I think this twin-emulsion film really does have a lot to offer, with a very full tonal range along with an excellent creamy graduation of tone, and very high acutance. From my point of view, as a pyro aficionado, an added advantage is the fact that it displays a high uptake of the pyro stain. I'll post a few samples from a Pentax 6x7 using the 75mm SMC Takumar f/4.5 lens. Workshop Wild Grey Fox Emperos 129 For the technically-minded, here's a crop from the image above to give some idea of grain structure and "sharpness". James Bryant
Rick, other than development time and temperature did you have to make any other changes in how you develop Bergger film?
rick_drawbridge
Rick, other than development time and temperature did you have to make any other changes in how you develop Bergger film? No, it was a regular development process. The film requires quite an extended development time compared to HP5, and I found by reducing the development temperature from my usual 75 degrees F to 70 degrees F, and extending the development time by four minutes to compensate, the film took on a "smoother" texture. Please don't ask me "Why?" ! I seem to have come across that procedure with other material in the dim, distant past...
James Bryant
Rick, great images, it certainly handles a wide range of light.
rick_drawbridge
Thanks, James, it exhibits very good exposure latitude, too. I accidentally underexposed the "Workshop" image by two stops, but the negative was quite OK.
Pinklather
Bill, Thank You for the kind help & encouragement on the OA use. The same guys that pointed me towards HP5/PyroHD had high praise for it. If I recall, it has to be made from separately purchased reagents. Rick - the Berger Pancro results are sweet. You weren't kidding about grain having been tamed. The crop looks really good. 'Hope all have a fine Friday & some fun this wkend.
Bill Bowes
Rick, Wow on the "129". I keep feeling a tingle in my brain with this one. . .what was it? Tone, subject matter ?? Now I know. To me "129" shares recognition as an equal with Paul Strands "White Fence". . .keep them coming ! Aloha, Bill
Bill Bowes
Now that I am "calm" after the above, if anyone is interested in the Obsidian Aqua developer, do a search thru PN with that topic. Jay's post during OA's introduction are there. Art Craft Chemicals of N.Y. is my supplier of the 3 component's of this developer. Glad to help thru a PM. Pinklather
Bill, Bravo on helping w/ the OA detail. 'Preciate it. OK. Kubrick did it with monkeys, but the critters at the obelisk were really salmon. :)

rick_drawbridge
Here's my contribution from a more modern camera. I took a walk with a Chinon CM-4, a very simple SLR with a PK lens mount, in this case fitted with the rather nice 50mm Auto Chinon f/1.8 lens. The film was Kentmere 100 developed in PMK Pyro. chuck_foreman1
I think I last posted some summer color from my Exakta with Pancolar, now back to the usual Rheinscapes. I live next to the Rhine river, so I just walk out there and basically shoot river landscapes. Mundane, but I do like it when the weather is nice to shoot with the K2 filter the ever changing cloudscapes.. Here then with some shots from the Werra III w/ Tessar and the Contax II with Jupiter 12. These screen shots (still no scanner) were Kentmere 100/Agfa APX souped with Tanol Speed. rick_drawbridge
Chuck, those are really very nice, especially considering your lack of a scanner. I can't think of a much better combination than a Werra, Kentmere 100 and Tanol Speed!
Don Harpold
Hello These are from the Minolta Himatic 7S with Kentmere 400 in HC110 Dil. B Some of these came out ok and others ehh. Most all the histograms were crowded to the right To me they seem muddy, not much contrast? Don't think I like this one. Have HP5 done just waiting for me to develop I am using the Minolta on all these as that is what I started with so to keep it even will conclude with it
