hello all,
I'm new to this forum and i'm coming here because i couldnt find an answer to my question so far..
It's about my canon EOS 20D sensor cleaning, after a year without being used i've found some "artefacts" appeared on the pictures... I know there is a lot of stuff said and shown about it...BUt it's no dust.. i've ordered a cleaning kit from visible dust which came very complete with all the bells and whistles... but the "cracks" won't disappear..
Yes this looks like what i can only describe as "veins" or cracks.. like a mycosis..
I've took a picture for you to see.

Any input will be GREATLY appreciated since i'm in a state of .. despair right now i'd say. .

Thanks guys !

ps: forgive me if i made some mistakes, english is not my first language.

I'd agree with Jamie, this looks like serious fungus or, possibly, cracks. If you stop the lens down to the smallest aperture (f16-22) you may be able to bring the lines into sharper focus and determine more accurately what they are. Either way you will need a new sensor or (hopefully) just a vigorous cleaning (best done by Canon in this case I think).

If you are naturally an optimist, then some of the 'cracks' look like more like fibers to me than like fungus. Try what Robin suggests to try to get better definition on them.
I think it's premature to "despair", but contact Canon about whether they can look at it and repair or clean it only if it doesn't cost more than a $100 US or so.
You can buy functional 20D bodies on eBay for $100-200, so that may in fact be your best option since repairs may not be worth it. In fact, a 30D or higher is not much more, so you might "upgrade" while you're at it.

This camera was introduced in 2004. It has is an 8 MP sensor.
Unless the owner has very specific and personal reasons to keep it, I would not pay a dime to have it repaired, cleaned, or whatever.
OK. Perhaps 25$ at a local camera repair shop. No more than that and certainly not 100$.
