Week 21, seems like a lucky number...So time to post a favorite pic of the week, in case your wondering, it doesn't have to be taken this week, just one you'd like to share. Don't be shy! I will start with 2 photos of musicians, one taken with a Summicron 50mm, the other with a Summicron 35 both Tri-X. These are in different places, different light but I wanted to show examples of these two lenses in response to the thread on which 35 complicates a Ver 4 50mm Summicron. Don't worry, you don't have to post photos taken with Summicrons. Don't delay, start posting! 50mm 35mm 35mm

Great portraits, Barry. A great moment Knut. This one is my next step in trying to push what film can do recording shadow detail. Shot last week, using ZoneSimple Extreme and Deep Shadow Ultra 1024x the light plus two extra stops for a total of 11 more stops than the manufacturer says to use, because this clump of pond weeds was in the shade. M4-2, 50 Summitar, HP5, ISO too low to mention. Processed in Sprint Standard 1:9 at 60 degrees for 3-1/2 minutes. I just shot some 6x9 at 2048x the light, plus 2 extra stops in the shade. If it works, that will be next week.

00dwgy-563100984.jpg.f1fbc69b61561fd62b37939093949b4c.jpg

Like the second portrait, Barry! Focus, directional subdued light and OOF are just beautiful!

Glenn, you nailed it! A friend watching my screen while I edited it asked "Is that street art?"
And I think it is, but the worker probably does not share that opinion. That is like 30kg of methacrylate, and paper thin grip.

Nice Polaroid feel to your second shot, and the first abstractly graphic. I like very much the weighting of the three zones, and above all the formal repetition of the black frame line inside your picture.

From my first roll out of my first Leica that is the first roll I ever developed myself! Leica M3, Summarit 50mm 1.5, TMax 400, Ilfosol 3, Coolscan V ED, VueScan, no touchup or editing.

Barry, I think you sold me with that second shot! That is precisely the look that I get from my 50mm v4, only in 35mm.

For all that people want sharpness and flatness, I find lens sharpness aesthetically distracting in many images. I've found

optics from the 40s to be plenty sharp enough for my liking. I don't care about flatness so much since I am not using the

lens for copying work. A pleasing character means more to me. This is why I prefer the 3.5 Tessar of my Rolleiflex to the

lenses on my optically perfect Mamiya 7.

Outstanding pics, all around! I'll join in the fun after I get this next roll developed.
