Uhooru
Hi all, here we are again, rolling through various holidays while we head towards the Winter Solstice and the new year beyond (in many cultures). Hope this Friday finds everyone well and eager show another favorite pic o' the week. I'll start with a picture at the Redondo Beach pier. Taken with a GX7 and I forget what sum micron I had on it or if there was a Pany on it.

Eddie1664878514
just brought Epson V800 and quite pleased with its result regarding 120, but I heard that for 135, I must rely on specialised film scanner for bigger prints. if you use specialised film scanner, which one do you use/suggest?

This one scanned by using V800 to scan 6x6 (taken by a rangefinder, Fujifilm GF670):

Sanford
Thats funny, I've been busily adding rules to my email preferences to discourage endless emails from, among others, UGG boots. My preference setting picked up the "ugg" in "suggest" and sent this notification straight to the trash.

I started working on a project of cropping "lost" face out of the backgrounds of my images, processing and blowing them up! My Flickr is currently full of a lot of these. They all initially represent 100~300 pixel square crops. As a collection I'm beginning to like them personally...

Allen Herbert
Nice Eddie. Sold my Nikon scanner, stupidly, seriously thinking about of a new scanner....does that Epson really give a quality scan? On old film it seems okay, but what about new film, how do you think it compares with a digital image?

Eddie1664878514
Emir, for color film, I basically only use Fuji negative. I believe this one is ISO400. Allen, I am new to seriously scanning firm, so I don't know how to compare V800. I heard that Hasselblad would be much better, but it is about 30 times more expensive if I get it in Hong Kong! (!?) I really want to know how much better in real quality terms. I also heard the Nikon is better than Epson but discontinued (!?). So far V800 appears to be very good to me. I only used the Epson driver, and have not even tried SilverFast. With a properly exposed, preserved 135 negative, scanning at 6400 dpi, printing to A3, the results are quite ok to me. For example, I rediscovered this photo:

ray .
Eddie, you could look for a used Nikon scanner... I've had my IV ED for about 12 years and it's been flawless (hopefully it continues). I also have a lightly used Nikon 9000 I've been contemplating selling for a year or two now. I have a friend who uses a flatbed Epson and his scans look great on the web. I think it may be a little limited for printing files though from what he says, but I'm not sure.
