eskil_hess
I am a real fan of tri-x pushed to 1600 developed in XTOL, but I hate the thought of mixing powder. Have anyone tried it in TMAX? If I look at the following two images which compares XTOL and TMAX for tri-x, it looks to me like TMAX actually has finer grain? http://fotoimport.no/images/filmtest/helebildet/TriX400-Xtol-10m.jpghttp://fotoimport.no/images/filmtest/helebildet/TriX400-Tmax-6,5m.jpg
eskil_hess
I can say that I am after the same look I receive by XTOL. I scan my images, so I guess that's relevant as well. Kodak, please announce a fluid XTOL
john_shriver
If you hate power developers, consider Ilford Ilfosol DD-X. It's a moderately speed-enhancing developer, competing directly with TMAX and XTOL developers.
eskil_hess
I forgot to say that I have actually tried a lab that used DDX, but I liked XTOL more. But TMAX is fluid, so why use DDX instead of TMAX?
glen_h
For both Tri-X and TMY, Kodak has times for EI1600 and EI3200. They recommend no development change for EI800.

TMAX is at the top of the non-alphabetical list of developers for both pushed and non-pushed, except that they don't recommend it for large tank processing.

http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professional/support/techPubs/f4017/f4017.pdf

I don't remember ever knowing Kodak to supply the same formula in powder and liquid form, though I never looked all that hard.
-- glen
User_6502147
Have you tried Acufine? I got pretty decent results with ASA 1200 and 1600.
Les
