Ruined my bulk HP5+?!

<p>Hi all,<br>

I received my first bulk roll today of HP5+. Thinking that the film would be in a can, I removed the box (not the bag) before placing it in my dark tent. I didn't open the black bag the film until it was in the dark tent was in but now I'm worried I've ruined the film as reading online suggests you should do the box removal in the dark as well. <br>

Does anyone have any experience with this or have I now got a nice bulk-film shaped doorstop?!<br>

<p>Shoot your first roll with subjects which are not super-important, but essentially the box is for physical protection, the bag is light-proof. Particularly if you opened the box indoors and placed the bag almost immediately in the dark tent, I would be 99.9999% certain your film will be fine.</p>

<p>Kodak puts a bag in a can, I forgot that Ilford didn't. Did they used to have a can?</p>

<p>When new, I would expect the bag to have tape or something to help it stay closed, but after the first time maybe not as well sealed.</p>
