Mark, love the Kingfisher.
I spent some time with this Red tailed Hawk at a local environmental education center. The hawk is an avian educator, having been injured too seriously for release back to the wild. It was on a perch enjoying the sights and sounds of a spring day. The tether twisted and became tangled as the hawk moved around. The bird carefully pulled here, adjusted there and straightened things out.

00cWhX-547308784.JPG.d3109affa1e5ecfabe831a723765cc60.JPG

Flood recovery. This is the official re-opening of the Veterans memorial Building in downtown Cedar Rapids, which was severely damaged in the 2008 flood. Repaired and revitalized at the cost of several million dollars, including restoring the Grant Wood stained glass window.

00cWhj-547309684.jpg.8b04512c8ec0a73dbf126ff335b3446f.jpg

During the past month, I've been shooting HS girls lacrosse. Starting to get the hang of it. The games tend to start near dusk which provides sweet light--for a while. Then darkness settles in and the poor stadium lights mean that too-high ISO settings are in play.

This shot was earlier. . .and taken with a rented Canon 400mm DO lens, probably at f4.5, on a 5DMK3.

i haven't taken 1 photo all week. So here's an older one.
It's the pavilion artwork my niece made in Amersfoort. It's been taken down now.
I hope she does build it again for her upcoming show in Utrecht, because i want another shot at taking a good photo of it..

I was getting a new kitchen in my apartment, so I had to disappear for a week. I drove to the Badlands in South Dakota and spent three days cruising the area. It was a perfect time to be there due to lack of tourists and great weather.

00cWn3-547326084.jpg.36c14426320512e6f440c82931934bac.jpg
