<p>Yesterday I'd planned to visit the Oxford Parks to shoot cricket with my newly acquired 400/2.8, but due to a lost or missing credit card, all I managed was a 45 minute walk with a very heavy backpack.<br /> So instead, I set up to photograph some garden birds. It's a bit of a learning curve that I'm on, but here are a couple of full frame images.<br>

They made the difference between getting around or staying home. This was taken on the Skyline Trail at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary looking north into Schuylkill County.</p><div></div>

....he/she is busting open a samara to get at the seed (the little “helicopter” which spins to the

ground carrying Maple seeds). An edible survival food you can find year-round if you're lost in

the wilderness, rich in protein, the squirrels here on the mountain spend a great many hours

each day scouring the ground for them. Unfortunately for the squirrels, the ground littered with “empties” is a visual clue to predatory birds that someone tasty is living in the vicinity.
