Uhooru
Hey there ho there. Happy Friday. That extremely anticipated moment to start posting the favorite pics o'the week. Last week had some nice pics, but was not a great turnout, but cie la vie. I'll start off with a summer photo taken looking at the South side of the Balboa Pier, Newport Beach, moment of anticipation, I think this was the M7 and 35 Summicron.. Don't be shy, would love to see many photos.

Great stuff, it reminds me of Paul Klee in tonality and shapes: http://www.artcyclopedia.org/art/paul-klee-rose.jpg

charlie lemay
People are slow to post this week, so I will add another just for fun. This is an Xe-1 shot of the tree I shot in my first post, "Ladder, " when I first noticed it. I got up close and under it to shoot the right trunk. The seeming hand reaching down to shake yours was totally unexpected.

baisao
Knut, Barry, Richard, and Charlie - Thank you!

Knut, I confess that I am not familiar with Klee though I have heard the name. I am surprised by how eerily similar to the painting you linked to is to the photo I took. What a happy accident! I am going to have to explore his work more.

To answer your question the photo is one exposure lasting about 13 minutes. I was taking a photo of the outdoor covering of our City Hall when I got hassled by a security guard for being on public property after 10:30 pm*. I moved the camera as I was talking to him, playing as though I was taking the tripod and camera down. I moved the camera on the head several times letting it gather light as I got friendly with the guard, stalling for time. I am glad my gamble didn't result in a wasted shot.

*Apparently, the public cannot be on City Hall property after 10:30 pm because laws were passed to prevent this after the Occupy sit-in. Progress?

knut_schwinzer
Wow, Jim, nice story! Hope you enjoy the trip into the childlike-earnest world of Paul Klee! At least a great pic came to us thanks to occupy wall street! Isn't life odd?! How many interesting things came to mankind by accident, one comes to think! Penicillin, LSD, vulcanised rubber, Viagra, X-rays, microwave, maybe Frottee, and I would say all fermented food, like yoghourt, good bread, wine, beer.... cheers all!
