Hello, Nikonistas, and a good Wednesday to everyone. Nice photos, last week! Perhaps that's what I was thinking about when I had a camera bag over my shoulder as we set down at a shady outdoor table for a lovely still-cool June evening and a well-earned burger and fries. Of course the peril of casual outdoor dining - especially when it involves grilled meat - is that the folks at the table next to you will have their Vizsla-Lab mix professional beggar out on a not-very-short leash. This particular fellow has completely mastered the forlorn eyes and persistent I-see-your-left-over-burger stare that won him a few morsels for his trouble.

What (or who?) was across the table from your and your Nikon gear this week? Share a photo!

00aTIz-472207584.jpg.5af53c96833efa5568bd65e82f03320b.jpg

Thank you to those who commented on my picture last week of my new grandson. I promise to restrain myself from weekly pictorial updates. But babies sure are photogenic. This weeks picture is from a couple months ago from the John Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasotal FL. The world's largest miniature circus is located at the museum and is modeled after the famous Ringling Bros Circus.

00aTJ1-472211584.jpg.2bccf665a496200da46403b3f58ee1eb.jpg

Maurice Orozco, thak you for the encouraging words last week. Also about last week, Chris Wick, loved your photo. Looks like any problems with that picture were easily fixed in the lab (pun definitely intended)

I read a great tutorial from Zack Arais that someone linked to from one of the forums about white seamless and I got inspired to do a self portrait. Now thanks to the magic of photoshop the word believes that I have a giagantic secret white room!

00aTJA-472217584.jpg.f4bc6999b9de2c064cdf4e35ef810356.jpg

Like many others I waited for clouds to clear that were obscuring todays transit of Venus. Patience paid off and was able to photograph the event. Used a Questar scope adapted to D300 giving a 1400mm focal length.

00aTJC-472219584.jpg.cc3648206089ac33b08e017fcaca51c2.jpg

A friend asked me to photograph his concert and I followed the advice on concert photography on the front page of this site. D300, 85/1.4G, SB600 for rim light and SB 900 for master/fill.

00aTJn-472233584.jpg.8691437001565df325df92bf5db846db.jpg

My contrib -- a hunk of wood. I didn't quite manage to get the entire field in focus, alas. I'm sure I wasn't even paying attention at the time, which is more upsetting. But I still like the picture.

00aTKB-472239584.jpg.c1d74d3497c675ff9794e292683bf1a2.jpg

It's a while since I've been here, but it's always a humbling experience. Jose's jellyfish and Glenn's transit photo (it's cloudy here in the UK and our effective window was only about an hour) really stand out for me already.
As you may know, we had the Diamond Jubilee celebrations this weekend. Here is my attempt to capture the moment. Purists might object to the use of a telephoto for a candid, but it's what I had mounted at the time.

00aTKE-472241584.jpg.634fb895e1c767c81c578eacb82e3d05.jpg

Good morning! Taking a break from the wildlife. Found something I've been fond of from a few years ago. Something seeming French and melancholy about it, as in "Spring can really bring you down the most ..." Nikon D300, Nikkor 17-55mm. I think I recall having "antiqued" it in Lightroom.

00aTKH-472245584.jpg.a817e97b89f53100461a6a59eefc27d6.jpg

That's a Sports Illustrated cover, Chris! Wonderful Transit of Venus, Glen. Robert's beautiful dogwood in the rain is like a Haiku. Lil Judd's Day Lily is a lovely revelation. Great fireworks, Mark. And the burlesque queen must be thrilled at how well you show her, Jana.
