Matt, beautiful photo of a beautiful piece of jewelery. Funny you should ask, I have pointed a Macro at some things in the past few days! My D7000 has returned from a full spectrum conversion (something I had been contemplating for a white now), and one of the few IR filters I have fits the the 105 Macro's thread (62mm)... though the subject is more macroscopic than macro....

00a6mr-448193584.jpg.455dc1a7f43c59e30895fc240a58afe3.jpg

Earlier this year, I was mainly testing an Olympus mirrorless camera for photo.net such that those images are not qualified for Nikon Wednesday. Now I am trying out the new 85mm/f1.8 AF-S G, here is a sample. I picked this image since it has some out-of-focus lights in the background.

Over the weekend, my hometown, Dallas, held an opening celebration for the first of what they hope will be three bridges designed by Santiago Calatrava. Over the last few weeks I've seen many fantastic photographs of the bridge in the media. On Saturday, my family went with me across the bridge so I could take a few of my own.

Favorites so far this week: Simon Jenkins, Jamie Harre, and John Rowsell. And thank you to Jamie for mentioning my photo last week.

00a6pZ-448247584.jpg.34a19beb5cad7199b8cda2bc02e21c2c.jpg
