Haven't had time to see all the contributions yet, but "Roses behind Glass" stands out as one of my favourites so far.

This is a picture of one of England's few Baroque churches, and its self-proclaimed finest. Built in the 18th century and dedicated to St. Michael and all the Angels, it serves the nearby village of Great Witley.
The picture is a combination of 3 exposures and several layers to retain detail in the stained glass windows and to obliterate other sightseers. D700 + 28mm f/3.5 P-C Nikkor @ f/5.6 and ISO 1600. Some correction for the mixed lighting done in afterwork.

00ZIP9-396257584.jpg.ef386408075b54a72de70b5078c50469.jpg

Just received my Tamron 90 macro yesterday
thought that I would share an image showing the magnification ratio
this picture is an 1892 dime
it is the same size as a current US dime for reference
not the best condition but how would you look after 120 years
I think that this is maxed out as far as it will go
the dime was 4 inches from the front of the lens and 10 inches from the body on a D7000
the background is a gingham tablecloth
no cropping
time to go looking for some bugs
f16 1/60 sec ISO 100 SB400 flash handheld on ext cord

00ZIPS-396267584.jpg.e47b25a247656b316b9b5ae51969e5b1.jpg

The College Park Aviation Museum hosts a train club's modular layout (The Wright Brothers operated a flying school here where the Flyers paced locomotives on the adjacent tracks - hence the connection with trains). One of the model railroaders asked for a portrait of his new Empire State Express locomotive. The prototype was famous for speeds in excess of 100 MPH.

00ZIQZ-396289584.jpg.dee62d080b48ed93cea6c4d1d1ef51a4.jpg
