tom_mann1
The link and download process both work fine, but the pdf itself seems to be corrupt. The latest version of Adobe Reader won't open it.

Tom M

carroll_bloyd
The first link worked fine for me. The download was quite fast, considering the size of the file.

The file opened perfectly--didn't realize I'd be getting the complete June 1958 issue of Playboy wrapped around the camera article.

I used Foxit Reader--a free PDF reader that I like much better than Adobe Reader.

Thanks, Bob, for making this available.

Downloaded file.
2. Opened it with Adobe Reader.

Sorry I can't offer anything more helpful.
tom_mann1
... and this time it worked perfectly for me as well. The only difference between my previous post (when the file wouldn't open), and now is that my last attempt was made from my office, whereas this one is from home. The most recent version of Adobe Reader is on both computers.

Tom M

PS - Thanks. Great find. I'm going to have to thumb through the remainder of the issue. It looks like a wonderful walk down memory lane.
marc_bergman1
Bob,

I was able to download the file from the first link. It opened just fine.

Thanks for providing this information. I like seeing articles like this. It provides a slightly different perspective than those from a camera magazine.
rick_schuster
Love it. Does that photo caption on pg 31 say "Momiyoflex"? Or is the scan just making the a's look like o's? Some great cameras, and a fun article. Thanks for sharing it.
bob_riley1
I am glad that those of you who could download the June 1958 issue enjoyed it. I still haven't figured how do it myself but of course I have the original.

Some of the issues of that vintage had quite a few pages of camera ads and I may uplaod another. June 1958 was the month and year I graduated from college, and as for the admonition above concerning content, there is more prurient matter in today's Time magazine than there was in the Playboys of the 50s.

I am grateful to Playboy for introducing to Ian Fleming and James Bond. The short story "Hildebrand Rarity" appeared in PB in 1959 or 1960 and the base Library gad Casinoi Royale and From Russia With Love, and the JFK got elected in 1960 and made James Bond famous. I still subscribe.
