I don't want anyone to get a heat stoke, but I prefer 90+ degrees over the winter cold any day. I've been waiting for the heat to try out some extension tubes on the dragonflies with my 400mm. I chased this guy around in the backyard the other day. I'm not an expert so maybe someone can help me with the identification. Haven't seen as many of the bigger guys as we had last year, maybe they won't be here till later. Let's see the photos summer has brought to you.</p><div></div>

spencer_chrouser
<p> This is my neighbors cat. I'm not sure what his name is, so I'll call him Mr. Bob, after my neighbors name. He's a pretty fat cat and takes it upon himself to munch on the food we leave out for my cat Tommy. Everyday, sometimes multiple times a day, he'll join Tommy for a meal. He's a nice cat and quite friendly. I've been wanting to get some shots of him, but I never quite had the opportunity. So today I followed him around for a bit and he ended up posing for me on this little ledge.</p> <p> Unfortunately our photo session ended abruptly. I had made the mistake of leaving the back door open just a little too wide and next thing I know my two dogs come running out and zoom, off goes Mr. Bob, with my dogs trailing behind. I then proceeded to chase my dogs around for 5 minutes trying to get them back inside. Fortunately Mr Bob went unscathed. He may be fat, but he sure can run.</p> <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="100%"> <tbody> <tr> <th> <p>Camera</p> </th> <td><a href="http://www.flickr.com/cameras/canon/eos_7d/">Canon EOS 7D</a></td> </tr> <tr> <th>Exposure</th> <td>0.001 sec (1/1000)</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Aperture</th> <td>f/2.8</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Focal Length</th> <td>155 mm</td> </tr> <tr> <th>ISO Speed</th> <td>320</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Exposure Bias</th> <td>0 EV</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="100%"> <tbody> <tr> <th>Lens Model</th> <td>EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM<br /><br /></td> </tr> </tbody> </table><div></div>

JamesFarabaugh
<p>Jeff, even warriors in battle take pause when a sexy woman enters. I like it!</p> <p>I was in Vegas for a bachelor party this weekend. This big Koi was in a pond in the Bellagio atrium. I didn't want to take my big camera to a rowdy bachelor party, so I shot this with my SD1200 pocket cam.</p><div></div>
daveinwilton
<p>Man, is there some great stuff this week or what? Jeff's red heels and blood, Brad's individual in a short skirt and Crocs, and David's contortionist owl are just some of my favorites. Friday will likely be my outing for this week, so for now another shot from the county fair from over the Memorial Day weekend. Just a bit of a display of color along the midway...</p> <p>-Dave</p><div></div>

lee_derrickson
<p>Nice photos this week as always. Three weeks to retirement but meanwhile they're keeping me busy, so this is from last year. This B-25 had just lifted off the runway at the Wings & Wheels Show back in October. Wrong time of day and spectators were north of the runway facing south, but here it is.</p><div></div>
mbkissel
<p>Nathan - that's a damselfly. There are many with similar appearance, so I'm not sure of the exact species. Looks like it could be a Northern Bluet or a Tule Bluet. And that's a heck of a macro rig. I'm curious, what is the maximum focusing distance with the extension tubes you've added?<br /> Jeff S - I think her heels are bleeding. Terrific shot! Love the expression on the guys' faces.<br /> Brad - You never disappoint. Where do you find these folks!?<br /> Frank Page - interesting lighting.<br /> Spencer - nice shot of Mr. Bob. Looks like you've got his attention.<br /> David Storm - what a whimsical shot! Very nice!<br /> James Dean - I like it. Looks like the sky is on fire!<br /> Gil Pruitt - family snap? Looks like it might be cold there from the clothing.<br /> Michael E - the word "jailbird" came to mind when I looked at this one.<br /> James F - who takes a camera to a batchelor party? Good thing you only got the fish!<br /> DL - colorful indeed!<br /> Robert L - good attention to technical detail. I wonder what she's reading?<br /> G.K. Gerber - Nice pic of a dead leaf. Still looking for that bug. ;-)<br /> Lupo - okay, that's it. I'll be right back after a trip to the fridge.<br /> Phil B - didn't know Peonies lived that long.<br /> Peter Meade - good action shot. Shutter speed is perfect.<br /> Ervin - your "little" brother looks pretty big from this angle. Nice portrait!<br /> Lee - I have some shots of that B-25! Hard shooting into the sun.</p> <p>A macro shot for this week...</p> <p> </p><div></div>

andrew_harto
<p>@ David Storm: that's a great owl pic! I love it!</p> <p>This is a 360 degree panorama of Big Bear Lake, CA, where I found myself at recently. It's an image made out of 44 frames stitched together and post-processed in PS CS5. After each of the 44 images was reduced to 5 megapixels, the final merged file was about 2.9GB large, including all adjustment layers. danferrin
<p>As usual, some outstanding photography again this week. I always enjoy seeing what others are shooting, and it helps motivate and inspire me to get out and take a few snaps each week. This past week has not been highly productive for me, though I've been out with my camera for at least awhile each day. However, I did happen across a cooperative Barn Swallow, who sat and let me approach and photograph it. A wooden fence would have probably been more photogenic than this metal railing, but sometimes you take what you get.</p><div></div>
