Happy Wednesday, Nikonistas. In a sharp turn to softer (for me!) material, I spent yesterday doing some very girly product shots. I had the fantastic good luck to work with a team of local pro wedding shooters who had pulled together dress, makeup, hair, and floral specialists, along with some delightful and capable models. Surely a treat for me, to have some much of that heavy lifting done already, so that I could just work on light and jewelry. Had your Nikon gear out of your usual element recently? I would like to thank Eric, Tony, Kent, Bill, Chris and Nicolaie for noticing my night photo of the St. Louis Cathedral last week and for your kind words. I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

This week I'm sending another New Orleans photo. The cross street is Bourbon Street and you are looking west down Orleans Street. It's an HDR taken about 5:40 in the evening. I'm hoping you enjoy the shot.

Have a wonderful week!

Over the top:
An immature wild bald eagle reaches the apex of flight with folded tail feathers as it poses suspended in midair for just a moment before it rolls over into a dive toward a fish in the Mississippi River below... This pose givesa clear view of the folded tail feathers which operate much like an oriental fan as the bald eagles negotiate flight maneuvers as part of their fishing prowess.
Hello Everybody,
it looks like Matt and I swapped the subjects for our photos this week, he has a portrait, I have a dog :-) What a stunning work, Matt. Superb!
Mine is of a little friend we gained, when she got lost and wandered into our garden, turned out she is a neighbour's dog, but we are fortunate to be able to look after her, whenever we like, or whenever the neighbours go on holidays, those are the best times.
Have a lovely week and I look forward to seeing all your photos.

Good morning, everyone. Here's a photo from the beach at the tail end of a recent holiday. It has a dynamic quality to it that makes it one of my favorite pictures of the trip. It was taken with the 85mm 1.4G. I have struggled with the AF on that lens. I'm sure it's partly due to my technique coupled with the slow focus speed but I find the AF very unreliable. But I am planning to test the lens fully before I ask all of you for your experience. Here is one picture where it worked well.

00Yi8a-357387684.jpg.39dd4039c6268445119c7f20d3a3bc0c.jpg
