This was Sunday morning above Rodeo Beach - heading on our hike to the top of "Hill 88" and looking towards SF and also Hawk Hill (on the left) above the Golden Gate. Record breaking warm weather on this day -- 80 degrees in SF.

Frosty windmill and its sweep seen on last Saturday. I was waiting for sunrise and moon rise (little what was left of it) and I didn't set what I was looking for but instead took this photo. The plague on windmill says 'Be ware of moving sweeps'. Once upon the sweeps were indeed moving not by wind but electric motor. It worked as a kind of tourist attraction. There are four different kinds of old windmills on the same site preserved as monument of past days.

00YC6O-330781584.jpg.f626d9fd0af479a9ff77d316ab4119d1.jpg

Hello to all - I'm new to this forum, but not to Photo.net. For me, 2010 was all about learning and mastering HDRI. I now at least tonemap every image I make (if not making a 3, 5 or greater number of HDR exposures) and incorporate that image as a layer in the final processing. Using masks, I reveal the HDR/tonemapped layer(s) to a greater or lesser degree, depending on the image. This image is from a project I'm doing for Cornell University - it's an eleven-exposure sequence using shutter speeds ranging from 1/4 sec. to 4 minutes. Processed in Photomatix, it represents the extreme of the HDRI look that I employ - most images employ a more subtle brush. More images can be found on my Facebook fan page:

I appreciate the shot of Sage Chapel--spent 8 years at Cornell at different times.

Lots of snow here, so macro work means flowers on the kitchen counter. This is an amaryllis. 50D, EF-S 60mm macro, 5 images focus-stacked with Zerene.

Nothing new shot this week, so here's another music photo from last month's Macworld Expo. This band (Jonathan Mann and the Rock Cookie Bottoms - awesome funny songs) was performing in front of huge windows, but I still managed to get some decent shots without using a flash or other lighting.
Canon 5D Mk II, 85 mm at f/2.8, 1/200, ISO 400.
