Too much hatred...I quit!

Recommended Posts

I recall a thread titled "My camera can beat the snot out of your camera", or something to that effect, in which the OP really meant it. Now he's upset because people disagreed with that premise. Well, this is the fourth time he's gone out in a "rit of fage". Like the "Halloween" guy in the hockey mask, he'll be back.

Ed, we all think our equipment is best FOR US, otherwise we wouldn't have bought it. We can and should share our reasons with anyone who has similar needs AND ASKS. If your P&S is best for you, I believe you. I also think your needs may be different.

Keep in touch (figuratively).

Hah! Fair comment. But I'd still like to know if the mods now consider bitch-slaps, pimps and piss to be acceptable language for this meeting of polite ladies and gentlemen?

Mods, censoring street language?

Even as the words were merely common English words as part of my OP rant, your wreckless repeating of their by-now "street" connotations only exacerbates (dignifies) their use.

Surely when ESPN (talking about LT) can and does use them in context , so can I (and now you)?

ditto what Jeff Spirer said.....

This screaming non-stop hardware, hardware, hardware cry can never be satisfied. I personally spent the first 27 yrs of my photography hobby using only a Minolta 101, 28mm, 50mm, 70-205mm zoom, set of extension tubes, and a Mamiya C220 w/80mm lens....and was happy.

In the next 8 yrs I bought a lot of gear, worked at a camera shop....and got tempted daily to buy something used that I always kinda wanted, or some new digital that I wanted now. Then I got laid off and the camera equipment purchase heyday stopped. It took me almost a year to get away from wanting, wanting, wanting equipment.

Then I came to the realization that I'm happiest when NOT buying equipment but going out and taking pics. Oh, I always knew this to be the way to approach photography in my heart, but actually seeing both sides of the coin....has PROVEN it to me. This past year I have bought NO equipment and been enjoying just shooting. I think next step is to get back into the travelling I used to do because of my picture taking interests

World.....here I come!

>>> ...besides the pretentious persons who shoot DSLRs (any make-any model) piss me off more often than not; their

Ed, can we talk? I mean right now.

First of all, don't listen to that Jeff dude - he's full of bokeh. Big time. Open your wallet just a bit wider and you can buy some of

the cool stuff stuff I have for sale; like my 24-70 f/.2.8, or my backup Maxpedition Versipack Jumbo urban commando camera bag (you'll

need to supply your own nine). Owning either one of those items will for sure put you on the road to greatness. Owning both will get you there twice as fast.

Personally, I think the mods should give him exactly what he wants, and permanently block his access to PN. Although, I really don't get what he was moanong about. With a very quick search, I found 7 of the FZ20s available on Amazon for $200 to $300. So, he could have gone off into the sunset with his beloved for not too big an investment.

A few days ago Ed was posting about how great his film cameras and his FZ20 were, and they can "beat the snot out of your camera", then it was something about how Vivitar Series 1 zooms made primes obsolete and people using primes are "patronizing purists" and now it's "[DSLR usrs'] insipid fanboy bragging and bitching and snideness sickens my core" and meanwhile his gallery is 8 photos of the same messy table in his house. Oh, and there's too much hate.

Ed, I think you're going about this all wrong. Get off the internet and go photograph something. Use your T90 or your FZ20 and don't worry about other people's cameras.
