photojen
As I vacuum out my basement from the inch or so of water that accumulated from the past couple of days of rain...I went outside to dump the last (for now) bucket of water and guess what? The sun is shining! Ah...such a pleasant sight. Enjoy your days and wonderful photos submitted, as usual. I waited for a long time for this shot, the right butterfly at the right spot and to get his wings open...while I was waiting, is when the finch I posted last week (?) made his brief appearance...(there are cobwebs on her face, I left them in the shot, am debating to remove them...who knows)

LindaM
Great work everybody. To mention a few:
Matt L - She's a beauty alright
Richard K - Spectacular sky to be sure.
Stephen F - Lovely narcissus. I especially like the background.
Francesco P - The light from the street lamps is very attractive.
Jeff L - Amazingly sharp!
Apurva M - Interesting. Are we going to see more forks next week? I hope so.
Daniel O - Beautiful work. I would never have thought this to be a mistake. Thank you for sharing how you did this.
Peter H - My condolences on the loss of your father.
Aguinaldo - Stunning.
Adey L - Love the colors. The horizon through the guy isn't all that bad. A little lower and you'd be in trouble.
Rick M - How do you find all of that mirror smooth water? Another incredible shot.
Arthur - Priceless. Hang on to this one. You can use it for blackmail when she gets to be a teenager!
George A - I hope you enjoyed your visit to New Orleans. There is so much there to photograph, not to mention the great food and entertainment!
Tim H - Cute girls. Looks like they were having fun.
Georg S - Wonderful! Love the little girl's complexion and expression as well as the classic car and light reflections.
Paul B - Beautiful light! Stunning winter scene.
Radu D - This is great! Could be a poster for a sit-com.
The past Sunday was "Super Sunday" in New Orleans. That is the day the Mardi Gras Indians parade. These costumes are all designed and hand beaded by the indians themselves (mostly men).

mtmixon
I spent about an hour sitting on the beach taking 100 shots of this same scene, playing with angles and exposure. I chose this one because it had the right blend of color, light and the all-important human element. There were so many instances where I framed the shot only to have the people who were standing on the rock watching the sunset decide to leave one or two seconds too early. :-)

lawrence_ho
Ilkka,
Your focus stacking picture makes my version a very good picture of bokeh 8>. We basically used the same equipment and it is a true testament on the notion "the person behind the camera counts the most". Nice nice picture.

marklcooper
It's been a really busy March at the farm. We tapped some maple trees and made a couple gallons of maple syrup. For those that don't know, you boil down 40 to 50 gallons of sap to get one gallon of syrup. We're up to 19 new lambs so far. Jaz, our Australian Cattle Dog (also known as ACD's, Blue Heelers, or Red Heelers), had a planned litter of pups last week. We handle the pups from the moment they're born. This is a group shot taken this morning. For those not familiar with ACD's, they're born all white except for any black patches they may have. At about a week, the white starts to look like it was rubbed with newsprint. By 2 weeks, their eyes are open, the tan points are coming in, and the white has turned to grey.

A Nikon SB-900 Speedlight was wedged into a cabinet looking down on the pups. The D300's built-in flash was used in commander mode to trigger the SB-900.
