Nikon WedNEsDAy PiC 2010: #8

<p>I was mainly on a personal trip to shoot 4x5 images, when I ran across these fields filled with enormous wind turbines. Does anyone else get freaked out around really large things: wind turbines, submarines, blimps, etc.? These are about the size of a 747 doing cartwheels, and make a whooshing sound. Yikes.</p>

<p>Anyway, I used my D200 with an old 200mm f/4 AIS lens to capture and compress some of the turbines.</p><div></div>

<p>This week's contribution is a Lion dance from the Chinese New Year celebrations at Trafalgar Square. I thought I got a couple of good shots only to realize that this gal had accidently pressed the bracketing button the previous night at a party that resulted in most of my shots being either over or under exposed. Fortunately, we have Capture NX2 now :)</p><div></div>

<p>My family and I are just back from vacation, here we are plus one, the girl in the white bathing suit is my daughter's best friend.<br /> <br /> If you read too much PN you can get the idea that only the most recent model cameras are any good, and they must be early in their production cycle or they're not worth buying. I took my now backup d200 along with a very inexpensive lens, the 18-55mm with me on vacation, and I was reminded about what a great camera it really is, amazing really. <br /> <br /> The guy that took this photo for us had a very nice looking Canon around his neck. I didn't notice the model but it had a 24-70mm f2.8 on it. He seemed happy to hold a Nikon and he took this shot, keeping the horizon nice and straight. Hmm, even Canon users can take a decent photo.</p>

<p>Wonderful, wonderful photos. I love the diversity. Spring sports season has kicked in, so I'll begin sharing a little with you. I don't shoot a lot of indoor sports, but was asked by a friend to cover our state's Regional Basketball Finals last weekend. To be honest, I don't like basketball all that much, but went, covering 8 games. I really enjoyed it. I lucked up and was at the right place, at the right time, with the right equipment, and nailed this slam dunk--my first and probably my only. This is a copy of a copy, so I hope it looks okay. I was later told that this young man has been nominated as Mr. Basketball in our state. Thanks for looking.</p><div></div>

<p>Wow! This week is particularly vibrant! I will make a list of my favourites later in the week in order not to miss anyone. But first...my contribution.<br>

We went on photo hunting at the historic district of Ankara like every amateur photographer in the city and they came out to be dull and cheesy as expected. This one one of the few I liked. The woman with the headscarf and the cheesy artificial flowers created a warm feeling and had a story to tell.<br>
