leicaglow
I was mainly on a personal trip to shoot 4x5 images, when I ran across these fields filled with enormous wind turbines. Does anyone else get freaked out around really large things: wind turbines, submarines, blimps, etc.? These are about the size of a 747 doing cartwheels, and make a whooshing sound. Yikes.

Anyway, I used my D200 with an old 200mm f/4 AIS lens to capture and compress some of the turbines.

Mankuthel
Hello everyone...

Hope you all doing great this week.

Thanks a lot to Arthur Richardson, Boris Miljevic, Gej Jones, Mikhail Tsypkin and Ken Yamamoto for your comments last week.

This week's contribution is a Lion dance from the Chinese New Year celebrations at Trafalgar Square. I thought I got a couple of good shots only to realize that this gal had accidently pressed the bracketing button the previous night at a party that resulted in most of my shots being either over or under exposed. Fortunately, we have Capture NX2 now :)

pge
My family and I are just back from vacation, here we are plus one, the girl in the white bathing suit is my daughter's best friend.

If you read too much PN you can get the idea that only the most recent model cameras are any good, and they must be early in their production cycle or they're not worth buying. I took my now backup d200 along with a very inexpensive lens, the 18-55mm with me on vacation, and I was reminded about what a great camera it really is, amazing really.

The guy that took this photo for us had a very nice looking Canon around his neck. I didn't notice the model but it had a 24-70mm f2.8 on it. He seemed happy to hold a Nikon and he took this shot, keeping the horizon nice and straight. Hmm, even Canon users can take a decent photo.

Phil

dwmosman
Enjoyable pictures once again. So far, the ones I like the best are
Naraya Kovvali - colors and imagery
Roberta Davidson - Good one! the added color tones work well too
Hamish Gray - very picturesque, cloud mass in upper left adds interest
Janne Kaakinen - nice 'street' photo, a little surreal. Was the face in the hand mirror intentional?
Michael Axel - powerful
Aguinaldo de Paula - well-framed in the square
Tony Hadley - like the progressions in the scene

I'm not feeling very inspired these days. Too much winter and some other family issues. So my picture is just our cat Tasia again. But I liked the colors.

photojen
Taken during a snow storm at one of my favorite places to shoot~ any season. I like the touch of red that the shrub offers to compliment the bridge. I want to thank all who made mention of my last weeks entry of the Valentine lamp posts, I appreciate it. Have a great rest of your week...Oskar~ I love your entry, kudos on a wonderful image.

peterafle
Another spectacular exhibition from the WedNEsDAy Crew! Too many wonderful images to comment on them all, but here are a few faves:
Narayan Kovvali : What a creative and imaginative approach to a frequently photographed subject! Lovely!
Rick Dohme : Great capture and a nice composition! Having shot my share of Little League games, I know how tough it is to get that "bat on the ball" shot!
Andrés Arteaga : Really nice composition; I'd frame that one...
Jeff Farkash : Love the eyes. Terrific portrait.
Joe Elrod : Perfect! Save that one for the engagement-party slide show.
Janne Kaakinen : I really like the composition, and the combination of the self portrait with the portrait of your daughter (I assume?). And good job with the printing. The contrast is really nice.
Louis Meluso : At first I wasn't sure about your decision to crop part of her hair, but then I realized it really focused the eye on her remarkable profile. Well done! Great light and exposure, too.
Kent Shafer : You have really raised the bar when it comes to captions. I guess "I shot this on vacation in DesMoinses" isn't going to cut it any more! My vote for best post of the year so far.
Jon Eckman : I don't know what it is, but maybe that's why I like it so much.
Everyone else's shots are great, too! These were just the ones that really made me stop and look again...

My humble offering for this week (I won't even try to keep up with you on the caption front, Kent) :

Sunrise over the Shenandoah Mountains, as seen from Seat 32A on the redeye flight from Los Angeles to Washington Dulles Airport last Saturday morning (disregard the 2009 copyright notice -- I guess I need to change my upload settings in Picasa).

D90 , 35mm 1.8 (my new favorite lens) @ f8, ISO250 , 1/15 sec.
Leroy_Photography
Wonderful, wonderful photos. I love the diversity. Spring sports season has kicked in, so I'll begin sharing a little with you. I don't shoot a lot of indoor sports, but was asked by a friend to cover our state's Regional Basketball Finals last weekend. To be honest, I don't like basketball all that much, but went, covering 8 games. I really enjoyed it. I lucked up and was at the right place, at the right time, with the right equipment, and nailed this slam dunk--my first and probably my only. This is a copy of a copy, so I hope it looks okay. I was later told that this young man has been nominated as Mr. Basketball in our state. Thanks for looking.

durukan_payzanoglu
Wow! This week is particularly vibrant! I will make a list of my favourites later in the week in order not to miss anyone. But first...my contribution.
We went on photo hunting at the historic district of Ankara like every amateur photographer in the city and they came out to be dull and cheesy as expected. This one one of the few I liked. The woman with the headscarf and the cheesy artificial flowers created a warm feeling and had a story to tell.
Greetings
Durukan
