larrydressler
Yep but 4x5 is still in production so that means it is not dead ... those that use it write Kodak.... john_shriver
The sheet film and roll film are coated on very different backings, so they require completely separate production runs (master rolls). Presumably the last master rolls they made of the roll film didn't sell out, making the film uneconomic to produce.
bruce_karnopp1
I have a Kodak Medalist made in 1944. It is a very nice camera with a very good lens. In the last few decades Kodak has abandoned film for the sake of cheap digital cameras. If this is a good business model only time will tell. Like other businesses that were not quite big enough to avoid failure, Kodak may have trouble finding a reasonable part of the market to survive.
Fortunately, other companies will jump into a smaller market to have a successful business.
larrydressler
But they did not get rid of the coating... even Panatomic-X was kept alive as Polaroid 55 for many years after it was killed in 35 and 120 Kodak film.
mike_king3
So true, but I could never get the type 55 to fit in my Nikon. Should have bought the Forscher back.
