krassi_genov
Is it just me a the KEH site has gone bust? They have a new design which looks ok but then it always crashes my browsers - Firefox and Safari...I used to visit their site a lot looking for old cameras..I have used their ordering system in the past which although not too user friendly still did the job for me and I had one of my classics restored...Now I can't move past the front page? Sorry, this might not be the best forum to discuss this but given the amount of old gear these guys have I though I'd ask whether I am alone in my frustration?
skygzr
I just tried it....got a "404 not found" and then tried again and got the site as normal. Must be doing some maintenance.
djcphoto
They've redesigned the site and are having some 'teething' problems. Yes, it's frustrating, and hopefully they'll get it sorted soon. I received an email from them the other day apologising for any inconvenience, which was a nice touch. They are aware of the issues and are working on getting it fixed.
andylynn
Yeah, that web site is messed up pretty good. I'm sure they'll get it figured out eventually.
tomscott
They are redesigning their website and I have had trouble with it as well. Maybe they will get it straigtened out soon. I was used to their old system and now they have decided to make it ...better?

ralf_j.
Have had my share of problems there with their new site, still they are hard to beat when it comes to the best bang for your buck.
leicaglow
Yes, they likely used the Microsoft development platform, which often is incompatible with non IE browsers. I was getting absolutely no response with Firefox a couple of days ago, and just gave up trying. I'm working with a customer to submit billing right now, and have to use IE (and nothing but IE) to access their system. That would be the very first question I would ask if I were building / investing in a new web system: "Does it work with all browsers." If not, I wouldn't touch it.
JDMvW
Looks great, less function - sort of "server lite"

This is the sort of thing that is a nightmare for a vendor. The new webmaster/designer may be looking for a job soon.
gerry_rosen
I've had no problems getting to the site with Safari, but it's been so painfully slow that browsing is not fun any more.
marc_rochkind
"... new webmaster/designer may be looking for a job soon." Actually, this is why there ARE so many jobs for these folks. ;-) Seriously, here's an excerpt from an email I got from them last week: "As with many new websites, we are experiencing some growing pains and are working to remove several issues within the site, primarily regarding our "search" function as well as our checkout pages. "Specialists are working around the clock to correct these issues and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. As an alternative to the web, you may also call 770-333-4200 to place an order via phone." --Marc
mjferron
Using Mozilla I had to change my opening link but the site is slow, slow and slower. Wouldn't mind if it was a real improvement in design but where's the advantage?
Rick_van_Nooij
Had no trouble getting on the site two days ago with firefox.
And the catalogue still finds its way to my door every month ;)

tom_harvey3
I also thought that their site was completely broken when I got the server error msg with Firefox. But then I hit the tab "shop for gear" and everything worked. Not as intuitive as the older site though.
thomas_sullivan
probably as a long time customer, I also received the email apology. Yes, they are having some difficulties with the new web design. I am confident that they will resolve it. There is always phone calls to them if you need something right now....plus they do actually have a hard copy catalogue you can request.
steve salmons
Seems to be a bit patchy at present in terms of connecting. I just tested the search facility though and it picked up all items with 'Linhof' in the title. This is a useful way of finding things I didn't know I needed. I haven't tried ordering anything yet through the new site though.
I think some of the webpage URLs have probably changed so if you are trying to access the site from your favourites list you should delete the existing favourite and recreate from the latest home page URL. funkag
I was able to get an order through last weekend (including a $4 Bargain Spotmatic in the as-is section which is, of course, beautiful...). It took a couple of days to get the site when it was up and running on my IE browser. Usually I'm impressed with website upgrades, but not so much with this one.....
john_liberty
I have Firefox & Opera (does anyone actually still use IE) and they have no trouble accessing the site, but it is very slow going on searches. I thought it worked fine the old way. The email they sent was nice, but I would prefer if they just went back to their old site.
rustys pics
Well they lost a sale from me! I was going to buy a used EOS 20D body from them, but the site just kept spinning no matter what browser I used on my Mac. So I went to the dreaded FleAbay but lucked out and got a super clean 20D from a local guy for $360....had my camera the next day.
WHen I was a web developer having a client's site down that long would've had heads rolling....

jeff_drew4
I got an emailed notice of the problems and an apology from Keh. I hope they fix it soon and i lost a terrific deal to someone else over the the weekend due to crashes and lost order. Oh well . . . saves me a fight with my wife over the need etc! :-)
guy_e
I tried placing an order for a lens and a back yesterday, first had my cc declined (thanks Chase fraud alert - not!)... cleared the hold, tried again, and no matter what, couldn't get the order placed. Then I tried again in the evening using the Paypal link, and that stalled at some point, and eventually didn't complete. I guess I'll try calling them up in a bit...

I develop software for a living, and I have to say, if the site I work on was down for more than a couple minutes, heads would be rolling. I'd be really surprised if this doesn't impact KEH's bottom line - after all, it is the holidays, so spouses / SOs / etc will be buying too.
colin_baker
"Yes, they likely used the Microsoft development platform, which often is incompatible with non IE browsers."

Development platform shouldn't have anything to do with browser compatibility, that's all on the server side (and yes, they are using MS). Browser compatibilty is more related to the design aspects rather than the backend code. If you're getting server errors, you're going to get server errors in every browser.

alex_kinnan
Just in case anybody from KEH is checking in on this forum, the last three times I tried visiting the site (yesterday and today), I was only able to get on once; so there's still apparently some bugs and whatnot...
