Canon's Excellent Customer Service

<p>Congratulations Canon on your excellent customer service and ability to stand behind your product. Last month, I noticed the mirror fell off my 5D. I sent it to the Canon Factory Service Center in Irvine, California this past week and received an email confirmation today (4/8/09). I expected a $200-$300 repair estimate since the camera is 3 years old and beyond the 1 year warranty. Low and behold, they sent an email saying the 5D will be repaired at no charge.<br>

I was deciding on buying a 50D as my secondary camera or even a Nikon D300 (just for kicks) but to even think that is blasphemy. Even more so after that email from Canon. I'm buying a 50D and stick with Canon until my dying days.</p>

<p>Actually, Canon Canada Inc. used to provide free sensor and viewfinder cleaning. That all changed in November 2008. Now it's a $40 charge. But, it's $40 with their usual customer service smile.</p>

<p>And, I just had my 5D's mirror stop plates replaced free with a 4 day turnaround time.</p>
