ShunCheung
Uncommon to have both blooming flowers and fall foliage at the same time?
chansonbleu
Shun, Not at all uncommon to have both. There are some hearty Crysanthamums and ornamental kale that are frost resistent. Also Purple Asters(sp) grow wild and bloom late into the fall. You are more likely to see them near the coast, as killing frosts arrive late there. ShunCheung
Thanks Steve. Hopefully I'll be in Mount Desert Island this coming October. The last time I was there was in 1988, some 20 years ago.
Mary Doo
Shun, while there, you might want to make an effort to wake up early for the sunrise at Cadilac Mountain. It will be a memorable experience. Mary
david_henderson
I stayed in Bar Harbour a couple of days last October and naturally drove to Cadillac Mountain at dawn. There's a big parking lot up there, and it was full. There were hundreds of people scattered right across the landscape on or near the summit. Five minutes after the sun came up, and before the light was strong enough to photograph, everyone went off , presumably back to bed, leaving a handful of photographers to do what we do unencumbered. Rod Sorensen
My favorite accessible place is the Baraboo Hills in Wisconsin - I live in Wisconsin. My favorite less accessible place is the Aspen, CO area - the Maroon Bells to be specific.
