Ad for WinAntivirus "took over" my browser

I was reading <a href="http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00IomZ">this

thread</a> in the Site Feedback forum, having arrived there by clicking a link in my alert e-mail. Before

that, my browser hadn't been launched today. All of a sudden a popup from www.winantivirus.com

appeared. See attached screenshot. I clicked Cancel and my browser surfed to the following URL:

<p>

http://www.winantivirus.com/pages/scanner/index.php?

aid=areweill_nl_en_ed2&lid=keyin&ex=1&p=0&ax=1&affid=

This type of advertising seems rather aggressive; perhaps these can be blocked? (It was kinda funny --

given that I use a Mac)<div>00IpIK-33544384.thumb.jpg.f52f471bb1e00a4018d0550b5014af02.jpg</div>

Got another three similar ads this morning - not sure which system they are generated from but the only safe option was to kill Firefox in the task manager... all other attempts (x in top right etc) caused many more pop ups.

The site is generally good - but this has happened about 4 times this week.... :(

I'm afraid I got one served as well, today. I started browing photo.net in this thread. All

seemed well, with a colourful "Live and work in Canada!" ad at the top. Then a bunch of

redirects took place. It caught me off guard, so I was too late in getting screenshots of

most. See one attached. It ended at the following URL:

http://www.drivecleaner.com/.freeware/index.php?

p=37&a=1&j=0&pp=0&w=0&ex=1&ap=0&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]

&link=keyin&ad=areweill_nl_en_ed1&aff=

(with the usual cr*p about my system being at risk etc)

If the screenshots/URLs help, let me know and I'll try to be prepared next time.<div>00Ir9o-33592484.thumb.jpg.7923c909f0ff55afa52a101eb60e9f6b.jpg</div>
