Film Camera Week for May 13

Recommended Posts

Greetings, all, and welcome to our new thread. Post all the images you like from any film camera. I'll start with some shots from a roll of Kentmere 100 that I processed and scanned earlier in the week. Camera was Minolta SRT 101 with MC Celtic 50mm f 3.5 Macro.

What's in the box?

Geiger counter with original box. I borrowed it from local fire department for a demonstration on which substances are best at blocking radiation (beta particles). And it's as old as it looks- packaging states a 1961 date of manufacture.

One more.

Limited depth of field in shade, most likely wide open at f 3.5

That's all for now. Looking forward to seeing everyone's images.

The first 3 images are from the Konica III with it's 50mm 1.8 Hexanon lens. Unfortunately this camera skips frames making it undependable at best. Film was Foma 200 In Hc110 Dil. E for 5.5 min.

This last image was on the roll and I do not have a clue as to what camera I used as I must have yanked the roll and not recorded frames having been used. The inscription on the tailgate (pun?) says "Lord help me be the person my dogs think I am".

First test photos from a Smena-8 (Soviet bakelite camera from the 1960s), CineStill 50D film. Processing by local lab, scanned on Epson V330,.

I like slow color films and wanted to try an alternative to Ektar 100. The results seem promising. It has Ektar's fine grain, but with somewhat more muted colors which may suit certain "vintage" subject matter. Stated shelf life is rather short (CineStill recommends shooting within 6 months of purchase), though this film was expired and worked fine. It is also supposed to be more sensitive to light leaks, but I shot this roll on two cameras and had no issues. At the moment, unfortunately, 50D is hard to find in 35mm.

Also, regarding previous comments about images looking soft on upload: I found that most of the problem (at least in my case) was to do with having my browser window zoomed to 120% for better reading. When I zoom to 100%, they look sharp. If there is any reduction in image quality caused by the site, it apparently is not due to file size reduction. I checked the size of my original images (in kb) and those uploaded, and they are the same.

If you really like ISO 50 color film, eventually you might also want to bite the bullet and get some Kodak Vision 3 50D cine film and ECN-2 processing at home like me. Kodak 50D is plentiful and inexpensive, e.g. from Ultrafine.

It's a tough act to post photos just after Rick; one just get the feeling of anticlimax!

A few shots salvaged from a poorly developed roll of Fomapan 200 in a BessaT with corresponding lens captioned. Developer was Xtol.

Wow great photos everyone!

A couple years ago I sent some Rollei Superpan 200 film out to Dr5 for reversal processing just to see how it looked. The results were pretty pleasing.

But it seems Dr5 are closing up shop, and mention of the matter made me want o revisit the scans I had gotten from them. Here are a couple from it. Shot on the Voigtlander R3m and the 50mm f3.5 Heliar lens.
