Xícara de Café
Some photos taken at the Hotel Brasília Palace in Brasilia. One of the oldest buildings in the city and designed by Oscar Niemeyer. The two chairs are by Sérgio Rodrigues. I don't know who did the lamps, but could even be Niemeyer, he was an excellent furniture designer as well as an architect. mjferron
So after talking about Yashicamats I took mine into a local field to try and capture the bales. All shots 1/125 @F16 on Foma 200 using a yellow filter and developed in Microphen stock for 5.5 minutes. V700 scans.
Bill Bowes
Mike, go to a 1:1 dilution with increased time. Streaks like those are what drove me mad ages ago with 120, until, I went to the longer times. Standard, for me anyway, is about 14 min now adays with my pyro developers. Here is a recent frame from the Fed-3 / Jupiter-8 combo. UFX400 in Hypercat (16 min) & a V800 scan. This rancher / farmer sells his meats direct to the buy & delivers. rick_drawbridge
Beautiful series from the Hotel Brasília Palace, Xicara, precisely my taste in architecture and furnishings. Here are some much more mundane images from a Canon T90 with a Tamron Adaptall-2 SP 28-80mm f/3.5-4.2 (27A) lens. The film was Arista EDU Ultra 200 developed in PMK Pyro. I'm still trying to make up my mind about this film; while it can produce excellent tones it seems to have a rather coarse emulsion with a scattering of manufacturing defects, and not much exposure latitude. Mike Gammill
A few more from the archives until I can process some more film. XA-2 laying on back aimed at mirrored ceiling, self timer used Dauphin Island from mid 1970's, Konica Auto S2, most likely Kodacolor II The above was a scan from the negative. I'm looking for more negatives from this time period. The Kodacolor II negatives seem to keep their color is stored properly. Mundane is not a word that I would ever associate with you images! Always wonderful and crisp results no matter the location, subject, camera or lens. Nice to see what looks like a Holden emblem on that GM car!
James G. Dainis
It looks as if we have two tonal quality duelists having at it. Rick_drawbridge uses a somewhat esoteric Arista EDU Ultra 200 developed in PMK Pyro, while Xicara de Cafe uses the more mundane Ilford Delta 100, Kodak D-76 1:1. Both certainly achieve wonderful tones. James G. Dainis

rick_drawbridge
The weather's deteriorated, and I can't see myself getting out again with a camera for at least a couple of days. Here are a few from last week; the camera was a Nikon FE with a 35-70mm Nikkor f/3.3-4.5 lens, and the film was Kentmere 100 developed in PMK Pyro. chuck_foreman1
I was out of action recently and the hot weather retarded my development a week or more. I had rolls from a original Vito, a equally dated Contina, an d a later Minolta X300 w/Vivitar 28-70mm. The Vito (1) I had only been used in a trial run which demonstrated the the intermittent escapement jam on the shutter. I was able to shoot the whole roll but images consistent from the first roll with flare and likely a serious focus problem.. Is it the flare that causes the focus/sharpness problem... I will say the grain and the lens needs collimation of sorts. The Minolta did well.. I have shot this before.. It feels nice in the hand and the meter works well. I did shoot a few times on manual, but generally AE. The Contina of similar vintage as the Vito, is in much much better shape, The Novar does quite nicely for its age and the little package is cutsie and practical. . All rolls done in D76 1:1 with no post processing; direct scans Epson 500. Mike Gammill
Lots of really good black & white this week and I've finally processed some film (not sure if these qualify as good) so I can add some new images. Film was Plus-X processed in HC110 dilution H and scanned on Epson V600. Camera was Minolta XE-7 with 50mm f 1.4 MC Rokkor. Farmer's Market in West Point Definitely seedless outdoor fog (morning light) plus indoor light from two 60 watt equivalent LEDs in overhead, manual exposure 1/30 second at f 2 downtown sidewalk With lenses available from 17mm to 500mm (more if I count my telescopes) I still reach for the 50mm focal length quite often.
