david_leibowitz1
This is a pretty basic question: when putting a 35mm negative into an enlarger, does the emulsion face the lightsource, or does it face the lens?
leicaglow
David, the rule is emulsion to emulsion.

leicaglow
Sorry, emulsion of the paper is up, so the emulsion of the film faces the paper (down). Emulsion to emulsion.
arjun_mehra
Try to place the emulsion up, if you want to: really, it ought not to make much difference, in most pictures, as, no matter how you set it up, we're talking just about light passing through emulsion. Now, if there's writing in your image, and you flip the negative, of course, the text will be reversed in the print.
