james_sampayan
**haven't posted in a while, so hopefully this works** Doesn't necessarily need to be purchased but should at least be something you acquired toward your own photography journey - anything from the most basic lens cleaner tissue to whatever equipment item to maybe you registered for an online class, etc.... Pics (quick-n-dirty style) highly welcome but again, not necessary. I'll start: Bought mainly for the Koudelka part but looking forward to reading it all.
Karim Ghantous
A super-wide zoom (Micro 4/3). I decided to go with a cheaper model, based on how and why I would use it. Sometimes the Pro lenses do offer something unique, sometimes not so much. :-) Next purchase, eventually: Sony RX100 VI to complement the iPhone. I don't think that phones are as capable as cameras with zooms like that. I'd rather an older iPhone + the zoom compact over an 11 Pro. You can take that to the bank! Resisted temptations: Sony RX100 VII, Leica M9 (used obviously), and a triplet of Voigtlander lenses for the latter. I really don't need all that stuff. Please, Sir, can I have some more? Gear, glorious gear, fast focus and frame rates...
RaymondC
Camera club Christmas function. Some people were trying to get rid of stuff, quite a bit really from just a few individuals, most unsold. I bought a fella's expired 120 format BW film. I have been thinking about my own stuff as well. One other guy family life now more priority he's sitll keeping his Canon 40D or something with a few lenses but he was selling all his darkroom stuff and film stuff, his TLR, his 35mm film SLR, and 2 earlier dSLR, also a Epson flatbed scanner. Other had Minolta film SLRs and lenses, various camera bags. Most were unsold ... There were even a Mavic drone on sale prob the smaller one in grey color. Every item for me apart from film since 2013 have been second hand. I got a Ricoh GR just to be much more portable esp when I am not out just to photograph, the Sony RX100 or the Canon G7x are way more popular, a number of my camera club members have them also, one went to Washington DC with it and left her dSLR at home, I am in New Zealand :) I OTOH can do with just a prime lens, I got the GR over the X100F Fuji due to the size, no viewfinder but that is OK.
akocurek
A few books that look interesting from someone's "estate". Bittersweet because he was a friend of mine who passed away a few months ago. Also got some camera gear from that.
Ricochetrider
I bought 2 books from photographers whom I know or "met" online- and whose work I admire and respect. I bought myself their limited, edition, signed copies and bought the regular unsigned copies of each for a friend. I also recently bought an antique Voigtlander Bessa in pristine condition. I shot one roll of film through the Bessa and am really wowed by the results. In a moment of inspiration the other day, I decided I would *only* (well for now anyway just for kicks) shoot expired film in the antique camera. SO (not shown- haven't gotten it yet) I bought one roll of Kodak VPS color film and 5 rolls of Svema 32 black and white film- all of which expired many moons ago.
Rick Helmke
I don't have photos but my most recent purchases were from a member here, a135/2.8 and a 180/2.8 both, both manual focus Nikkors and both favorites from back in the day. I've been looking for a 180 for quite a while and both are near perfect. Rick H.
rconey
Pre-cut mats for 13x19 prints. It hasn't arrived yet, but in the next day or two. Still on the Canon i9900 printer. Should I print even larger...……?
robert_bowring
Not a purchase but the most recent gifts from a friend who found these at an estate sale. A Leica 8mm movie camera and some sort of Canon 35mm camera. I don't know anything about either of them and don't even know if they work but they look pretty cool.
charles_stobbs3
A very beat up everyday Leics II case for a Zorki E (without strap lugs) that I purchased last fall. I've got some upholstery needles and braided fish line if I need to do some stitching. I've never dropped a camera but in case there's a first time it will offer some protection. joe_hodge
A second Bronica SQ 120 back in EX condition from KEH. Only having one wasn’t a great feeling, and they’re a bit pricey to play the Ebay lottery.
MarcelRomviel
Purchased some film to fill the fridge before the price increase. Also bought a Olympus mju to satisfy my g.a.s. :)
james_sampayan
Pretty excited to have found this loupe at a local thrift shop. There was also a new in box Jobo developing tank there but I passed on it as I would have just resold it on eBay since already have one.

richard_driscoll
The inexpensive Nikon 10-20mm zoom for my D7200 DSLR. Sometimes something like this can your photography a kickstart when it's gone stale. The widest angle I'd had before was the 24mm f/2.8 on my Nikon FE2 film camera and the 15mm equivalent of this new lens is a revelation!

cameragary
testswith my scanner.i set it up in beginner mode and it is a pleasure to use.i have been scanning a few slides my mom shot in the 1950's and they look great. i have a question though, and i have not read the tutorial yet but can you re-insert the software disc for the more advanced version of scanning.i figured i would get my feet wet as a beginner first before moving on. james_sampayan
i have a question though, and i have not read the tutorial yet but can you re-insert the software disc for the more advanced version of scanning. Are you referring to using the Canon scan software instead of photoshop? I use an old 4400f and rarely use the Canon software but give it a try if your OS can load it. cameragary
i want to be able to adjust colors ,tones, saturation etc manually.when i open the picture in my computer ( ( which is quite old now ) runs windows xp os it defaults to a microsoft digital scan program. isn't the canon F.A.R.E. is a seperate program ? that can be accessed to adjust picture profiles?. i figured it would be easier to start as a newbie and work my way up.to the more adjustable levels.i have been working long hours last couple of days and have little time to devote to the computer/scanner.i will open then online manual in a day or two to check further. Glenn McCreery
I finally purchased a one year subscription to Photoshop CC+Lightroom for $120 a few months ago after relying on a combination of Photoshop CS5 and Affinity Photo. CS5 worked fine for years until I updated my 2010 Mac Pro OS to High Sierra, after which CS5 would crash if I tried to print from it or if I tried to obtain file information. I like Affinity Photo a lot, but I also use Canon Digital Photo Professional 4 for initial editing of RAW images. I can transfer DPP edits directly to Photoshop, but not to Affinity Photo, DPP does not let me. I justified the purchase (rent) of a CC subscription when I realized that I would be spending less than one dollar an hour to use Photoshop.
cameragary
good info and thanks for getting back to me.i have been reading the tutorial but have not applied any of it yet due to work hours.i will look into digital photo pro.i have to justify my means with my better half . on a very tight budget and looking to get a better quality product than what i have been getting.i have been sending out all my film to the big box stores and not getting my negatives back, now with the scanner i can do it myself and print only what i want. thanks - gary
