<p>Sometimes the lower Ohio Valley has exceptional foliage colors. More usually, in the russets and brown spectrum. Nice, but not New England.</p>

<p>Interestingly, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is working to try to reduce the numbers of maples which are considered an invasive species here (<a href="http://thesouthern.com/news/local/environment/cutting-down-trees-to-save-the-forest-idnr-s-plan/article_93056faf-8572-520d-9a60-4eae9adb08d6.html">link</a>).</p><div></div>
