Rob_the_waste
Thanks for the memories Gene. I remember some things about the Parliament buildings. I was on a very short vacation on Easter weekend in the early 80's. I had a picture of my old VW station wagon at the bottom of the stairs. I also had a picture of a bunch of my buddies clowning around on one of the statues (the Queen). VJ was photographed fondling her breasts (with my Signet 35 no less). Can you get arrested for that?
david_l3
That sure looks like a Pinto in front of the church. Gene, I have one unused roll of 120 Verichrome still in its box. Email me an address and I'll send it to you for free.
howardstanbury
Thanks as ever for these - it's like stumbling into a silent movie, somehow.

I'd say it was a Pinto too; I once hired one 20-odd years ago and you never forget that.

And I have an unexposed roll of 620 Verichrome Pan sitting on my desk. One day I'll put it through my Kodak Junior to see how well the camera works, and then I can try the fun of re-spooling and do it again.

gene m
You should shoot it yourself David. Of course if you really want me to have it........
david_l3
Gene you deserve far more than that for the work you've done and the enthusiasm you generated. It's the least I can do. Never used Verichrome myself and it's better off in the hands of an expert.

dan_cluley
Another cool Found film post. :)
I'd say definitely a Pinto in the early shot, however there is a Vega in the last one, just ahead of the VW.

Dan Cluley
james_kennedy9
Loved the photos. Several of them indicate that they were taken with an upscale camera. A 1974 Pinto hatchback was my primary vehicle 1974-85. I put 159,000 miles on this much maligned vehicle and when I sold it for a few hundred bucks, it still had the original muffler and tale pipe. I am not sure that the car in your photo was a Pinto.

Enjoyed the Sherman tank shots. Poor excuse for a main battle tank. Its nickname was the "Tommy Cooker" and the "Ronson" (after the cigarette lighter whose motto was "Lights first time, every time". It was under gunned and under armored. Its main gun could not penetrate the Tiger's frontal armor at point blank range, whereas the Tiger's vaunted 88mm could take out a Sherman at 2000 yards.
tom_harvey3
That is definitely a Pinto in front of the church. Hard to tell what year, but the look became "chubbier" in 1974 I believe with the 5 MPH impact-resistant front and rear bumpers.
jakenorcross
I shot my sister's wedding on 40-year-old Verichrome... even after all these years, it's still a gorgeous film. Let us know what you do with it, ok Gene?

tony_lockerbie
Oh Canada, Oh Canada! Being on PDN is like a time machine, back to the days of dodgy fashions and Verichrome. Our world is poorer without one of those. Love the Verichrome "watermark" that appears on some frames, that would be fogging from cosmic radiation.

dan_b.4
Excellent post, Gene. I'll chime in and say the car in front of the cathedral most likely is a Pinto.
