On travel this week, so here's a shot from the ton of snow we got in DC in February. The orange cast is from the sodium vapor light that was peeking past a wall as I retraced my steps.
Nikon D40 w/ 35mm f/1.8 at 1/20s, f/2.2 and ISO 800.

First of all, I would like to thank these people for their encouraging comments on my pick last week: Arthur Richardson, Tiffany Brook, Peter Rafle, Filip Lucin, Ray Yeager, Alastair Anderson and Gej Jones.

A very busy week both at work and at home so I did not really shoot any good one. But I have to keep the streak alive so I called on my trusted model, Pinochio (for those who had hanged around here long enough, you may have seen his face beore) for a quick and dirty portrait session in the basement. The truth is I was testing a new lens I got and somehow I am quite fond of the lighting on his face. Hope I have something more worthy of posting next week.

D3S+135mm DC and SB900; Shot at 1/250s, ISO200, f4

As for last weeks bird: Isaac, Catalina Pelicans are pretty tame it seems, but having 200mm and a crop sensor helped.

Sanford: cool shot.

Nice pics again.
My photo for this week is taken last December and there's my daughter riding a kicksledge.
It's a collage of 10 photos and it's quite wide, so I'll post it as a thumb for bigger one.
All pics taken with Nikon D70 (50mm, 1/400s, f2.8, ISO400)

Hi everyone and happy WedNEsDAy! Beautiful shots again from everyone!

Here's two of our "office puppies" who hang in our office every now and then. This shot was taken in a brief moment of peace, seconds before they started to run around the office floor chasing each other. Oh, and thanks to Tiffany for your comment on my last week's PiC - I always admire your portraits, including the one in this thread! :)

This is my first post to photo.net after quietly lurking in the background since last December when I finally entered the world of Nikon. As usual the quality of everyone's work is extraordinary. For my inaugural post to the WedNEsDAy PiC I give you Marley, who showed up at my door a year or so ago and is now part of the family. For lighting I used a home-made soft box fashoned by lining an empty diaper box with tin foil, duct-taping an old t-shirt over the top, and stuffing an SP-600 through a hole cut into its side. That was hand held and connected to my D5000 by an SC-29. Ugly, but it worked.

i'm taking a break from the birds this week to show some wildlife of a completely different type: my 3-year-old great niece. how do i get talked into these things? one thing i can say is the range of emotions and expressions that one observes after only a few short moments is truly staggering... here's a bit of seriousness...

00W4dG-231703584.jpg.c073c15f3cfdc0663892da5ef5a3e38a.jpg

Hackberry Canyon, Utah, located in the outback of the Escalante Grand Staircase National Monument. If you don't have any luck getting a permit for "The Wave", you can drive your high clearance rig north on 40 miles of back county road, and end up at Kodachrome Basin State Park. Nikon D80 / Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 / Lee ND grad.

00W4dw-231711584.jpg.97b538aeac7525e62698cc1765d0110d.jpg
