Was I really shoveling three feet of snow a few weeks ago? I spent Sunday photographing a bird dog testing event along the Potomac River. The training grounds, well watered by a wet winter, have row crops jumping out of the soil. Below is Bob, one of the best pointing dog trainers in the country, with a client's Hungarian Vizsla. They're about to run down a tree line, looking for quail - and they'll try not to tear up those acres of sprouting green sorghum.

Happy Nikon Wednesday! Been out shooting? If you've been putting your Nikon gear to work, share an image.

00W4TF-231579684.jpg.9b512cf5f274dfed6681763af4cc6c93.jpg

I am again posting a Reverse Lens Macro. It is as always shot with the D300 with the 50mm Nikkor f/1.2 AiS coupled to the camera body with the Nikon ring. This is meant to be a tad more “Artistic”. I was going to “bug” you all with another “bug” macro – but you get out of it. ;-) I present a flower instead. This flower was at most 1 inch or about 25mm wide. I played with the WB in NX2 just to create a little more “effect”. My distance to the flower is less than 2 inches or about 5cm for focus & focus is achieved by moving the camera back & forth. I played with the placement of the focus to where I liked it. This is not an easy way to achieve Macros. Not for the fainthearted. But I’m enjoying it.

D300, 50mm AiS Nikkor, f/16, A mode, 1/160s. ISO 400, On Board flash with diffuser, hand held needless to say.

Hopefully you will enjoy.

Happy Tuesday from Seattle. The family and I went for a hike at the popular Wallace Falls State Park on Saturday. Being primarily a portrait photographer, I try to push myself in things like nature photography. Alas, my strongest images in the great outdoors are never the landscapes...I was very grateful to see a friendly face that was just perfect for a candid portrait.

00W4TQ-231582084.jpg.52bd6bf538debe34b6c4cdc89b5b8291.jpg

Circular Staircase at Hotel Cavour in Milano, Italy. I was actually worried about falling and dropping my first Nikon Digital Camera. Everything turned out OK and I liked the results.

Lil Jud d - cool exposure!! Inspires me to experiment more.

I'm still waiting for an end to summer, it seems like it has gone on forever this season. I thought this photo, taken last Friday at a place I work at, was an ironic twist on the drought situation still lurking here in S.E. Australia.

00W4To-231585784.jpg.406e35ce0a67f84499fc425ddb10c2c1.jpg

I wish I could say I took this image of the American flamingo while balancing on the back of a crocidile, out in the deep wilds. Instead, I must confess it's from a far more domestic location...still, I love flamingos and their brilliant plumage (due to carotene and the things they eat). These two were having a conversation, and a rather loud one at that....

00W4Tq-231585884.jpg.ad36d2281ba89c616fe8ce825e94576d.jpg

@ Tiffany Brook -- many thanks for your kind words about my photo last week!
I haven't had a chance to make any photos over last week, so I am submitting another version of the rainbow over the waterfall at the Los Padres Dam.

00W4Tr-231587584.jpg.ee77d5a68a55fc863606a5aff2566fc0.jpg

Hello Everybody,
thank you for all of you, who commented on my photo last week.
I really like the photos of Spring here this week, you all seem to be so ecstatic and happy after your long Winter.
My submission this week is of my husband's precious car, 1962 Jaguar E-type (Series I; 3.8l; straight 6, for all the car enthusiasts out there :-))). As I was photographing it, here and there and from the front and from the back, inside and out, I've noticed the reflection in the mirror and concentrated on that. Now, there isn't much of the car visible, but the reflection is :-)))

Shot with Nikon D700, 70-200 f/2.8@ISO 200, f/2.8, 1/1000s

Have a lovely week and I look forward to seeing all your photos.

Jana

Hi!Fellow posters,
An interesting opening for this weeks edition of WedNEsDAy PiC.
Nice effort lil, with the severe limitations of DOF in the reverse lens setup,it is indeed a challenge as the focusing being manual has to be tack sharp at very short distance from the subject.I used to experiment with a 50 f 1.8 lens on my film Cosina camera and the results were pleasing.I now have to rig up a reverse mount setup for my D 40X.
I got this fella with jagged edges and mirrored patterns on the wings in my front porch.

00W4UM-231593684.jpg.eacb0003d53c0020f144a46b553a18cf.jpg

I'm up early and there are so many great pictures posted already! Thank you Joe Walsh and Arthur Richardson for your comments last week. Here's this week's photo, (taken last Wednesday). It's Kilgarriffe Church of Ireland, Clonakilty, Co. Cork. Built in 1818, it's known locally as "The Church on the Hill".

00W4Uo-231601584.jpg.44aa1417471b20417d0b5de06829a191.jpg

Good Morning. Great pics already. Last Friday I went on a behind the scenes tour at Busch Gardens with my wife's 1st grade class. I got some great shots of the kids. I got real close to some amazing animals. This white tiger was so beautiful. Nikon D3, Nikon 80-400mm VR, 400mm, F/8, 1/200sec, ISO 1000.

00W4Ut-231601684.thumb.jpg.d6c6f7cd526ea148fb16afde9926c000.jpg
