The ra-4 chemistry is readily available and inexpensive. Unique Photo stocks them. Mini labs still use them. The Naked Photographer on YouTube does a great job explaining what you need. He also explains ways to chemically control contrast.
Thanks to all. That is great information, and I will read the book from Henry Wilhelm.
I plan to use the developer as a 1 shot. If the starter is still out of stock, I’ll try adding the bromide as described earlier, and I’ll let you know how it goes.
RA-4 color printing is very do-able. I just started, and it is a lot of fun. Check out The Naked Photographer on YouTube.
Scanning and digital printing is probably better, but, for me, working in the darkroom is 10x more satisfying.
I have ra-4 developer starter. Do anyone know if it will work? I am switching from the kits to flexicolor. I have a few weeks worth of the kit chems left. If the starter is not in stock by then, I’ll try the ra-4 developer.
