  3. I think SCL asked the best question, where does the fellow's interests lie? Nature and landscapes would suggest the need for long lenses, but for interesting doors, window reflections and street shooting a little Panasonic, Lumix, or fixed 23mm on the Fuji 100 line would be excellent. Just me but I settled on the discipline of the 23mm fixed lens and have not regretted it for street and landscape. Love the old chestnut, it's the Indian not the arrow.
  4. Here, in Tucson, there isn't even the pretense of saving the Old Pueblo look. Those old buildings are either brought down or transformed into high rise student/office worker apartment lofts with large balconies having wet towels, bicycles and folding lounge chairs decorating the view. One recent shot I regret not taking was in the San Rafael Valley, just North of the border. At a dirt crossroad there was an enormous old faded blue USAF grader that the local ranchers used to top off the roads after the rains. It was a marvel of giant exposed gearing, unmuffled engine, and a 3" thick steel plate turntable for the blade. No design considerations for safety or efficiency of course. It sat there like an exhausted old work mule abandoned to the meadow. I looked it over of course, but got involved in a group of Kestrals cart-wheeling nearby and left without a shot. We've been back twice but wherever it's in use we couldn't find it.
  5. Sorry no, for me it's the opposite. I'll dither for days over any purchase, being excessively careful [and cheap] but will never forgive my selling off a flawless Leica 111g thirty years ago. How's that for hanging on.............
  6. Yes! I see this suggestion forcing the lazy [me] to think a bit and get out there to do it.
  7. Mods - Feel free to delete this duplicate post, Sanford's back!
