  1. If anyone is thinking of purchasing or installing Luminar 3, I would advise against it. It was released earlier this week but it's certainly not ready for prime time just yet.
  2. Zion is one of my favorite of the National Parks. We visited again this year in late May, while I thought Monday would be quieter than the weekend I was sadly mistaken. The car parks were full by 8am. Luckily we found a space on the road near the bus stops. The buses did an excellent job of carrying visitors up the canyon in a very short time.

    Woodpeckers

Recovering from a stinking cold I was photographing out of my window at my bird feeder. I had filled the log with my own style peanut butter/fat/seed mixture and it wasn't long before these showed up. The first is a Red-bellied Woodpecker, the second is Downy Woodpecker.
  4. Ah yes, Rooks. I remember Rooks and Lapwings too. I'm coming back in May for the first time in 12 years. I'll get to see them again and hopefully photograph a few.
  5. A Brown Creeper from my window from this afternoon.
  6. I agree with Dieter. Looks like the focussing point was on the rear wing. BIF are difficult even with FF cameras and long lenses. Keep practising:).

    Chickadee

An friendly Chickadee from yesterday up on the mountain. D850 500mmPF ISO 1000 1/500s f/6.3
  8. A few hours on top of a freezing Appalachian mountain was enough this afternoon. Here's a friendly female Dark-eyed Junco that I came across.
  9. White Pocket. Hell of a drive to get there but well worth it.
  10. I think that’s a Greater Yellowlegs. The Lesser Yellowlegs is very similar but slightly smaller. Looking at the length of the bill makes me think it’s the Greater.
  11. The thing I like about AI Clear is that it’s extremely simple. The only other Topaz program I use is Remask which is pretty simple too. I don’t know about any of their other apps.
  12. I doubt it, it looks a bit too black. All I did to ilkka’s image was download, opened in Topaz Studio selected AI Clear clicked using the defaults and saved as Blackbird then reposted it.
  13. Yeah, sorry about that. One too many 8’s, should have been 22800.
  14. illkka gave me permission to do a Topaz AI Clear noise reduction on his Blackbird image. For ISO 228800 I think it came out rather nicely. This took all of 30 seconds. Open Click Done.
  15. That's amazing, ISO22800 is really good. Noise reduction will clean that up no problem.
  16. Forgot to mention these were handheld with VR Sport on.
  17. Afternoon up on the mountain. D850 + 500PF ISO 640 1/320th f/5.6
  18. We had a brief snow shower this morning so here's a Snowbird. Dark-eyed Junco
  19. Another vote for Capture One. I’ve tried them all. It’s the best.
