the Hindis have believed for centuries that our mind can manifest reality. so sometimes, things happen because of our thoughts; perhaps our higher level consciousness plays with us by interacting in our photo process. sounds nuts if you have not experimented or studied, but there is lots of empirical evidence that we all can do it sometimes, some more able than others. before caller id, how many times did you know who was going to be on the phone?!

yes, probably the cameras are set to wait for focus confirmation, whether auto-focus or manual and it is too dark to focus accurately

i was told that camera lenses appear black in xrays.

had similar when scuba diving. was about to take a picture of a giant centipede like thing (10+ feet long) in a cavern and someone foreign to english turned on her light which was forbidden and it took off, argh!

make it a habit to use your camera's user setting (U1 or U2) and when you start shooting, switch from user to something and back again. do i need to tell anyone without a perfect memory why? because sometimes we forget we changed sumpin' and shoot without remembering the customizing we last did. not that i ever did that, however. :rolleyes:

I would be surprised if there is anyone who has never been surprised by something that was caught in a picture that was not planned, maybe not even noticed until post processing. When I have time (?!), I plan to read a book on exactly this subject: "Photography and the Art of Chance" Has anyone read it?
