  1. I made a lensboard mounted cable release with some aluminum angle and a tiny piece of aluminum flashing on the shutter release handle.
  2. Earlier ones, or at least ones sold earlier used four screw lensboards, while ones made or sold starting in 1948, or 1949, used the three screw kind, though at least some had holes for the four hole kind.
  3. Can somebody give me a close up shot of the Busch Pressman Model C catch strip (The part that comes out the body), as I broke the tip off of mine, and I need to know if the bump is on the top or bottom, when I glue it back on?
  4. Can somebody give me a close up shot of the Busch Pressman Model C catch, as I broke the tip off of mine, and I need to know if the bump is on the top or bottom, when I glue it back on?
  5. The Pressman C is the 2.25" x 3.25" model, the Model D is the 4x5. Could you use the lack of coverage, as an artistic effect, or doesn't it work that way?
  6. Would it be possible to "MacGyver" a lensboard mounted cable release for a Compur #00 shutter, using the bottom part and spring from a "clicky" ballpoint pen, a nail, and a shutter release cable extension (or a shutter release cable, if you want the cable to be permanently attached to the pen part.)?
  7. What size flat head machine screws are used to attach a Compur #00 retaining ring to the lensboard? There are three cone shaped holes in the back of the retaining ring for the Compur #00 shutter attached to my 90mm B&J lens. Are these holes used to attach the retaining ring to the lensboard, or just for the tool that tightens the shutter to the ring, to slip into, as one of the holes, has three scratches in the paint leading from it, in a clockwise direction? It's an aluminum Shen Hao made Linhof lensboard, if that makes any difference. The ring fits really tight in the hole, but the shutter still rotates, and I'm wondering if the screws make any difference. It didn't have any screws attaching it to the lensboard I found it in.
  8. Would a shallow lensboard make the coverage bigger? I figured that a center filter would be needed, as its a lot brighter in the center, that it is at the top, bottom and sides. I know most 47 and 58 lenses need center filters. I'm using a Toyo Field 45A with the deeper of the two Toyo lensboards, if that makes a difference. It does fade into the corners at infinity. Could it be used as a "cheap" wide angle for close but wide applications? So you can't figure out coverage from the glass? I'm doing this partially for kicks, as I had the lens in the Copal shutter for a Pressman Model C, and to see if it would actually work, and that I wouldn't need another 58mm.
  9. Newsflash! It can cover 4x5 wide open (Above f5.6 on a 150mm lens shutter scale.) at certain focal distances, on the deep Toyo Field recessed lensboard. I don't know if it would work better with a shallower lensboard.
  10. The Carl Meyer 90mm Wide Angle lens, is actually a 4x5 lens, as I put it in a lensboard for both a Pressman Model D, and a Toyo Field 45A, and it covers the entire ground glass, at least without movements, as I haven't tried them. The shutter it's in is from 1947, at least according to the serial number. I don't know if it was a used lens from a recessed lensboard, with a lensboard mounted shutter lever actuator on it, or if it was old stock, as the lensboard I found it on, was the quick change Pressman Model C lensboard.
  11. How about a dark slide made with a hole that is little less than half way across the 4" dimension of the holder, that way you can get two on one sheet, and some separation of the two images?
  12. I did a test this morning and it does show some vignetting in the corners, but it's raining and cloudy outside so the light isn't optimal for a test. I can't tell if it's vignetting, or it just the falloff being too much.
  13. Can you photograph the image on the ground glass with a digital camera, without getting reflections? I'm trying to figure out the coverage of a lens mounted on a camera, and can see the coverage, but when I try to take a picture, I get a reflection of the camera and my hand.
  14. I just checked it again today, and wide open (Above f5.6 on a 150mm lens, as that is the scale on the shutter). I think it covers the entire ground glass. I check again tomorrow or the day after, as I'm not completely sure, and the light has to be really bright.. It's on a recessed lensboard, if that matters.
  15. I installed it as it was the only Copal #0 lens I had, and was curious. I noticed that it was brightest in the 6x7/6x9 Grid Lines, but I noticed clouds in they sky, on the bottom of the ground glass, which is why I asked, Is in any larger stopped down?
  16. Can the Koni Omega 58mm F/5.6 Hexanon Lens cover 4x5? I have the lens, and I installed it into a regular Copal # 0 shutter for my Pressman Model C. I got a Toyo Field 45A and a Deep recessed lensboard, and installed the lens in that temporarily. I have no idea what the F stops are, as the shutter has a scale for a F5.6 150mm lens. I can see clouds kind of dimly in the bottom of the ground glass when I have the lens wide open and the camera level.
  17. I know this sounds dumb, but would it be possible to make a roll film "drying cabinet" out of PVC pipes in sections with threaded connectors? It would be more portable than a regular drying cabinet, as you can unscrew the sections for transport.
  18. I have an Adapt-A-Roll 620. I was just wondering though, as the main body of the holder is smaller than a 4x5 film holder.
  19. Can a Calumet C2 be made to work with a 2x3 camera, or is the holder part too thick or wide? I know the base looks like it screws on the bottom of it. I know that you would probably have to have parts machined, but would it be possible?
  20. Will a Schneider 47mm f/5.6 Super-Angulon XL Fit a Busch Pressman Model D? And if does fit, will it work correctly?
  21. I have a C, and it's an almost completely different beast. Could anybody upload a picture of a working Model D Latch? The Screws I'm talking about in the picture, are the one's next to each "knob" on the back, and the ones at the each end of the film holder, with only one of those currently visible.
  22. Could it be possible to go wider, if you install the lens after taking the back off, and not changing lenses in the field?
  23. I have a Busch Pressman Model D that won't close. I think the latch is bent, as it looks like it should be straighter. Also do I have to replace the rivet in the top, with a nut and machine screw? Also the revolving back is really stiff. Is that normal? Also there are four screws under the back in the corners. Do those hold the back on, so I can see what the binding is?
