  1. note that i'm refering to second hand lens !

I first bought a 75/4,5 grandagon N, but despite is image circle, when i was using a small

amount of movements, corners were poor (not sharp, and some blue parts...)

Then, i sold it and bought a super angulon 75/5,6 MC from 1980, i found it to be good in

therm of color, but when i've made a big enlargement, it appear to be not as sharp as my

    others lens.

So, i was shopping for a new one, and finally bought a big 72 XL, yes it's big, but

considering all the stuff i have to carry anyway, it doesn't change a lot ... i'm very please

with the result, even in 6x9, it's very sharp ... now i'm looking for a center filter for my

    architectural shots in 4x5.

I first bought it for a special report in 4x5, but now it becomes my favorite 6x9 lens !

  2. If you need movements, i will go for the 72XL.

I bought mine one month ago, and now i'm shopping for the center filter, with slides and

    movements it's mandatory !

The lens is big, heavy, it requires an expensive center filter, the back element is also big ...

bug considering image circle and overall quality, it's the best in this focal (65 to 75).

I use it for 6x9 and 4x5, and i'm very happy so far !

  3. http://www.viewcamera.com/images/focalchart.gif

    A 150 mm lens is a 150 what ever you are using a 6x7 back, a plain 4x5 or 24x36.

This is it for the focal lenght, but a 150 is a normal lens for 4x5 and become a long lens

    for 6x7.

To have the same angle of view (150mm in 4x5) you need a 90 with your 6x7 back (it's

better to take a 100 apo symmar or apo sironar S, than a 90).

Inverse ; to have the same angle of view (150mm in 6x7) you need a 240 with your 4x5.

  4. it depends on a lot of things !!! subject, available light, max. F stop of the lens, fresnel or

not, bright focusing screen or not, and actual focal length !

    A 240 f9 seems brighter than a 75 f5,6, that's life.

With wide angle it's sometimes difficult to use a reflex viewer, because you need to move

your eyes to see some part of the image (direction of light !).

I would try first to use a fresnel, a good dark cloth, if it's not enought then f5,6 or 4,5 lens

have to be in you wish list for santa !

Reflex viewer is very good sometimes, but it does not brighten the image at all !

Using a 180/5,6 in daylight it's very easy ... using a 65/8 in rising sun it's an other story !

  5. there is two differents Horseman 6x7,120 roll film holder.

One is for 4x5 graflock camera, and it fits 4x5 camera ...

the second fits 6x9 camera only (horseman 6x9, arca 6x9, Fline 69...), and it's call a baby

graflock. You need the second style, baby graflock.

For 6x7, Rb back is a good and cheaper alternative !

    From the bh website :

    Horseman Roll Film Holder 2 (6x7 cm/120 Film/10 Exposures) for VH & Horseman 6x9

    Cameras with a Rotating Back

    ?

Note: These backs are based on the standard 2x3" type Graflok camera backs but will NOT

fit all cameras equipped with a 2x3 Graflok back. These backs will fit all Horseman 6x9

    cameras (VH, VH-R, 980 etc.), Arca-Swiss 6x9 Cameras, the early Graflex Crown/Speed

Graphic 2x3 cameras with a Graflok back and the Graflex XL cameras. They will NOT fit the

Graflex 2x3 Century Graphic Cameras or Mamiya Press cameras with a Graflok back.

  6. you can find people with complaints about the technikardan, but none about arca swiss

camera. Exept the fact that technikadan is a little more compact, there's no reason not to

    buy an arca !

Did you consider Arca Fline or the new Misura ?

if movements are very important then go for the regular Fline 45 compact (maybe metric)

    and orbix.

If you have enought movement with the misura, then go for it.

Avoid the arca field, it was a good compromise for landcape, but now you have the lighter

    misura !

  7. if you need a lot of stuff with the camera and price and availability in second and is

important then go for the sinar ... if quality and pleasure to use is important then go for

the Arca, a far better option in my opinion ! I've use linhof, sinar ... and now i have two

arca, and don't want to change anymore !

  8. http://www.largeformatphotography.info/lenses/LF4x5in.html

With this lens, your max rise in lanscape is 53 mm ... anyway i use to have this combo, and

i change it, not because of the lens, but because of the lack of movements with the linhof

and shorter lens for architecture !

If you consider a 110 xl, while longer focal lens, it will allowed you to use more

movements, because the 90 comes very close to the box !

  9. On an arca swiss Fline 69 it's possible to use several Roll film holders with the 611016

adaptator ... Mamiya RB ( pro, proS, 6x7 and 6x8 electric), Arca/Horseman baby graflock

    69.

While there's plenty of Rb back second hand, and some horseman 67, i would have some

user report of different backs with an arca swiss Fline 69, and specially the 6x8 electric

    from mamiya.

    Thanks

  10. do most clients expect a full 4x5 setup with all of the movements?

Here in France, most of them don't want to pay 4x5 stuff anymore !

I beleive that the best choice is arca swiss F line 69 metric orbix and roll film !

Yes, you can use a 4x5 camera with a roll back, but it weight more, it's bigger, the ground

glass is not dedicated to 6x9, binocular viewer is a dream but quite big in 4x5, and 4x5

have less movements with short lenses !

If later you need 4x5, you will be able to ad a 4x5 back and a new bellow !

With medium format, you can have cheap prints (fuji frontier) from neg and ekta.

Here in france, shooting 6x9 cost 5 time less than 4x5 !!!

Skip the linhof, because you can't adapt it to 4x5 later !

    for 6x9 i will take : 47 or 55 / 75 or 80 / 150 lenses ...

    Other alternatives :

The arca swiss misura 4x5 with 6x9 super rollex or horseman back

D slr Canon 1Ds mark 2 with 24 and 45 TSE with some limitations

  11. start with a 110 xl, ad a modern 150 or 180 (apo symmar L or apo sironar S are the best)

if you main goal is 4x5, then ad later a 72 xl and a 240 Fuji A

If needed, then you will buy a apo grandagon 55 or a 47 xl.

But remenber that will will need expensive center filters also, this is the reason why, i've

skip the 72xl (too large filter) and bought a SA 75/5,6, so my 55 / 75 and 110 share the

    same filter (67) !

In order to save money, you can buy a second hand SA 121 MC or a super symmar HM 120

instead of the wonderfull 110, and a regular apo symmar or an apo sinonar N instead of

    the L and S.

  12. multi coated Copal 1 shutter, serial number 632174 caps and agaion hardly used

condition, except tiny dent to rear lens ring.? Cost including shipping ?387.00.

i'm in the process to buy a Fuji 300 f8.5 Fujinon C MC / Copal 1 , the serial number is

632XXX, what is the age of that lens ? is it the current version ?

i was in the process to buy an apo ronar 240/9 mc to use it with my arca swiss f line 45 to

shoot architecture, then i've found that fuji lens ... do you think it will be as good as the

    apo ronar for 4x5 ?

The reason why i'm thinking of buying it over the ronar, is just because it covers 8x10 ( i

hope some times, i will buy a 8x10 back and bellow..),

but the priority for now is best quality for 4x5 use !

    any suggestion welcome.

    Thanks !

  13. I'm french, so i can try a quick translation of the text for you...usually, you have to deal

Note that this is not a professionnal translation, and this text is for the french market ...

    Bonjour à Tous,

    ---hello everybody,

Ce petit mot pour vous donner quelques précisions sur la situation des produits Ilford

    après la restructuration en cours.

---Just few words to clear the situation about our restructuration

Côté films, FP4+ et HP5+, et la gamme Delta (100, 400 et 3200) seront toujours

fabriqués, en 135 et 120. Par contre, les plans-films disparaîtront très probablement du

    catalogue.

---About Films, FP4+ et HP5+, and Delta (100, 400 et 3200) still be made in 135 et 120,

perturbe notre distribution mais nous sommes en train de réorganiser les circuits

d?acheminement de nos produits pour vous les rendre disponible au plus vite.

---Considering delivery, in regards to our situation in england, some delay is espectable...

    due to restucturation...

---BlaBla..what ever hapen to ilford, you have to continue to make pictures...let's meet at

    apple expo in paris...

Encore merci pour votre soutien !

    Bien cordialement,
