  1. yes. I missed the mine idea of your post. Cutting out the half ( this is as much as I would agree to cut ) of the negative space will bring more weight to the objects and turns the pic into documenting of some artifacts, and in the same time will bring a claustrophobic sense that does not appeal to me as oppose to "... to allow space for the concepts to wander..."
  2. yes, I try to be politically correct. I compiled your scenarios in to sunny up today for breakfast, and so far, no any negative reactions from my body, yet. Thank you paddler4. I just try to obey to 1/3 rule. Cheers. This backdrop is only real one I have. I use it to hide distracting background for my compositions and add some 3D touch with the narrow DOF.
  3. Thank you inoneeye. Yes, the one of the ways to compose the still life is to position the objects next to each other on the table. I tried to go further, I tried to create more dynamic and narrative interaction between the objects. There is no the life without death - as soon as the life born its "lures" the death "in to the picture" as a conclusion. Cheers.
  4. My apology, it looks like I was writing above response same time as you did this. The trap with closed "jaws" represents the end of life. The egg "includes" birth and life. I like you interpretation of the background as the ethereal, pre-life. Cheers. Of course it matter, one option I see is to mention objects used to assemble compositions. Cheers.
  5. Thank you for looking my post. The device is Minnesota Trapline Spring Trap GoWild | Best Hunting, Fishing, & Outdoors Social Network: iPhone, Android, Web, App I hope this clarify my idea. Lately I decided to mobilize my imagination and do some conceptual work. Cheers.
  6. Thank you Supriyo. Yes, the glass distortion view could be interesting. Cheers.
  7. Thank you inoneeye. You are absolutely correct. Cheers.
  8. Thank you Eric. Sometimes the air should be shaken too. Cheers.
  9. Thank you JDMvW. Ditto the inoneeye response. Cheers.
  10. Thank you Michael. I used the PS CS2 to postprocess the image. Cheers.
  11. Thank you for your thoughts.
  12. It is not easy to control all aspects of imagery in photography in compare to painting. I do not see the way to introduce additional objects in this photograph to expand the story. The different genre of photography poses different "vocabulary" to tell the story, for instance, the street photography has much more objects to "build" the story from prologue to epilogue.
  13. I like b&w version more, nice composition and 3D effect, the contrast is too strong to me, I see the right frame border is too close to make the radiator grid parallel to the lower frame border.
  14. Thank you Bernie. What is particular graphic is distracting for you?
  15. replies I can't say exactly what notion forced me to start to compose my shot. I still unsure about way to modify the angle that was referred in several replies. So this is the story I "found". The wide freeway is splitting in two un-compromised opposite directions before the exiting the frame in the undefined future. In real life such type of attitude (un-compromized) is very toxic. The opposite colors as well as increasing the negative space in the frame, underline the difference of two streams and detrimental consequences.
  16. Did you try to push in and release intermittently the film roll holder while trying to turn the film roll holder key?
  17. Yes, I heard you the first time, it's not resonate with you. I applaud the fact that you actively participate in critique threads but this is not make you opinion as the final instance on the object of critique, and I am not going to guess how much description I should present with my photo to satisfy you analytical approach. "You seem impervious to critiques of substance,..." The only critique from you was that the photo does not resonate with you - I do not blame you for your reaction. I also should remind you that the negative space can be used to convey the message, in my photo the real estate share of the negative space is increasing when moving from left to right along with (direction) road and directions of signs that is reinforcing the main story. "... you can’t ... tell us what you find significant that tells a story you think is worthwhile." Yes I can. Because there are more than one response on the thread there will be more than one discussion - not mustering of my story. By the way, check your old posts in the other threads regarding your telling "... us what you find significant ..."
  18. Thank you kmac. This is a photograph presented on photo forum, so interpretation is the the personal preference or if I can say is derivative of the image - as you,for instance, have analyzed your perception of composition. When I take a photograph I try to "compose the story" that based on the surroundings of the main subject - the road is the part of the story - it's not a minimalistic pic. P.s.: the objects on this photograph were not altered in process of capturing.
  19. Thank you Bernie. I can see this. Thank you Sam. Black an white arrows and splitting of the original direction can be symbolic.
  20. Thank you Michael. I agree that cleaning vegetation and 4:3 will improve the shot. My attention, though was directed to social interpretation of signs. Cheers.
