    Thank you, Wayne. I looked closely after your mention about the stillness. Guess the picture like you say is too dynamic. I would guess it was hard to get a close up shot with a still water. very large falls! Great Falls NP that borders Maryland and Virginia.

    Thank you, Aina. I am new to the region and was wondering where I could find them. They are all over! When I went on this trail, the sound was so loud I was wondering whatever happened to these "crickets" today! Then it flashed that it was Cicada time, and then i could find them everywhere. After an hour or so, the trail went silent again! B/R Kamala

    Hi Vincent, Thank you for the compliments! Out of several cicada pictures I clicked, this was the best to share. Hopefully I can get more pictures... Such rare phenomena. Interesting there are variety of Cicadas. 17 years is too long to live underground ;-) B/R Kamala

    They have emerged from underground after 17 years, in droves! The buzzing sound is so very loud, I couldn't hear song birds.

    I love this picture. Great capture of winter. I am assuming it is somewhere around where you live and visit often! I like the water-edge line, the log that cuts it across, and the winter colors!
