1.
Interesting Henry!
the owner does not know if it was from the store he got it from (Japan) or what so I guess I will have to see it and see if I can remove it.

 2.
I am not sure how I feel about it. If its originally there not a decal then that could be interesting if I plan to sell it in the future..a little unique version but at the same time, I kind of dont like the look that much so I am in the middle of cool not cool right now. It will be my first L glass so I kind of wanted it to be perfect. :D

 3.
Just wondering as I have not noticed this canon branding in any other FD lens so far:

I am about to buy it so was wondering if this has any meaning.

 4.
Great job as always guys!
I dont have a lot to share right now (I will get busy this weekend) but I took this one of my wife while testing many lenses wide opened.
The sun was very strong from the Kitchen door side so its not great but somehow I like the expresion. :D

This was the Canon FD 100mm @F2.0

 5.
I ended up getting the 100mm F4 macro with FD50 extension for it.
I tried several lenses with the FD50 and for my needs I may end up just keeping the tube for my occasional macro needs but we shall see.
Thanks!

 6.
Hello!
So I have a Sony A7ii which I love of course. I mostly shoot Canon FD lenses at least right now. My longest is a 400mm F4.5 but when it comes to moon shots or trying to get extremely close to stuff 400mm is not enough. While I can get an adapter, those degrade the image normally and saving for a longer focal range is not in my plans specially since I wont use that extra range that often.
So...I started thinking, at crop factor of 2 a 4/3 will be a nice way of getting an 800mm on the cheap without having to go with a Super Zoom camera (my wife is likely getting a Canon SX50 for her) with those tiny sensors. With 4/3 I will still be getting better quality than any bridge camera plus the IBS so it seems to me like a great addition to my gear.
So I saw the Olympus PEN E-PL1 which can be found used very cheap and well, now its on my radar. Of course, I wont have an EVF by going with the cheapest option but it may still be enough for the times I will actually use it.
Anyone using it with long lenses like these...what is your experience?

 7.
Got it to work finally! At Lowes they used some tools to twist it..came out pretty easily. :D

 8.
Never heard of that tool before Dieter but I will go get one and give it a shot. That way I will finally be able to test this fully.
Keith, yes at F16 I see the same borders so I guess that is a good sign about it working better without the adapter.

 9.
So I got this lens to work with my A7ii as I got it on a bundle and couldnt sell it without trying it first of course.
Unfortunately I cannot get 20mm out of it as it shows a lot of vignetting but looks more like it is that outer bezel showing on the picture to me. I mean, I could be wrong since if that was the case I would expect it to have that issue with the Nikon cameras it was designed for which will make no sense.
In any case, as I was looking at that bezel I cannot figure out if that part can be removed as it does not seem to be just one single part yet I dont see any screws either.
I can get around 23-24mm out of it clean and it looks pretty good at the usual apertures for landscape etc which would make it just work fine.
If I cannot make it work I will probably just sell it as well as my plastic fantastic 19-35mm to use the money for a Rokinon 14mm ..probably the best idea any way.
Thanks for any help! :D

 10.
Hello!
So I had a 50mm 3.5 macro before with the extension adapter and ended up selling it because to me setting up macro photography was too much of a hassle.
Now, with my new A7ii having IBS, I have been thinking on getting a macro again to see how the added stabilization helps me with the macro photography.
Now, I am guessing the 100mm F4 macro will be a lot better than the macro option of the 35-105mm but just in case I wanted to ask here.
I know for example that the 100mm will give me a 1:2 ratio but what magnification do I get with the 35-105mm?
Thanks!

 11.
First, I mostly shoot with FD lenses so AF is not really a big concern for me. Mostly I want the Focus Distance and Zoom to be reported to the camera so that the IBS can adjust accordingly.
Second, either way I WILL need an adapter but the Alpha one is more expensive.
No those are for A-Mount not E-mount which is what Sony mirrorless cameras use. I hope they eventually start releasing faster glass not just trying to keep them smaller now that size is not the only selling point of mirrorless but in the meantime, I might get away with a not so expensive setup. At least that is my goal.

 12.
That was just for used prices I looked for..I will check further just in case as I was expecting the same to find the Sigma cheaper.
I do not own the EF adapter yet but the ones I am looking at go for $100 (not even going to consider the Metabones) and they do have AF (very slow from what I have read) and you can control the Aperture with the camera so I like having that info on my EXIF.
There is a new EF adapter coming up that will have tranlucent technology so AF should be much better but no idea on price.
Basically i have been debating if I go with the EF adapter or a Sony A-mount adapter mainly for one lens..the Tamron 70-200 F2.8 which is a lot cheaper than the Emount 70-200 F4 and faster of course.
But since I am not sure I will buy that many lenses for either, I want to keep costs are low as possible.

 13.
"Putting a Canon Lens on a Sony is a bit mad" Really? Guess you are not very familiar with the Mirrorless world. ;)
I checked the Sigma but looks like the prices are quite a bit more than the Canon unfortunately.
Thanks

 14.
Are you referring to the Sony SAL-24105 ? That is for A-Mount. I dont recall seeing any native E full frame lenses that are 24-105mm. I doubt I have missed it.
I do want at least 24mm on the wide one so I will look at that 16-35 and 24-70 you mentioned.
Thanks

 15.
The Sony A7ii is emount not the A-mount for the Alpha cameras. I will need to buy an adapter either for the EF or the Alpha so this lens got my attention having that lovely L red ring :D
My camera has 5 axis stabilization so IS is not a problem for me in this case.

 16.
Hello!
I was going to get the Canon FD 35-105mm 3.5 again for my Sony A7ii but I am thinking that maybe spending the extra money on the adapter for EF and a 24-105mm F4 L will be a better option IF it is optically similar to the quality of the 35-105mm.
By getting the EF I will not only get some AF (I dont mind MF but it comes in handy when you want someone else to take your picture!), but also my camera will be able to do the full 5 axis stabilization which is really good.
Thanks!

 17.
Thanks Alex!
Here are two more. I really need to sit down and check all my shots to pick the best of the best but I like these two. :)

Both shots with the FD 400mm F4.5

 18.

Finally got this to work! :)
Nothing very artistic here as it was my first day testing the A7ii and didnt have a lot of time. The IBS is so good that for the first time ever I just felt like leaving the big Canon lens on the camera all the time. Probably over 90% of my shots were with that 400mm :D

Anyways this is with the Canon FD 400mm F4.5 and a Sony A7ii handheld. I will go through the rest to see what I got but at first glance I am super happy to see a lot of sharp images from such a big lens. A much higher ratio than before with my NEX-6 that has no IBS.

BTW Bill that butterfly looks gorgeous! Great shot.

 19.
Sorry I was a bit moody that day. :D
I have done it before but cant recall. I just wanted to post the direct link to the Flickr image or any other way to keep the IQ as high as possible without killing the details etc.
I went to the Aviary and Zoo on Saturday to test my new Sony A7ii and 90% of the pics were with the Canon FD 400mm F4.5 handheld. The others were FD 100mm F2, 50mm 1.4 and so on. All FD as those are my only lenses (aside from the kit 28-70 which was humiliated by my FD 35mm F2 lol )

 20.

NVM..posting images here is a pain :/

 21.
The FL looks surprisingly sharp. I wish you had the SEL50F18 as from my personal test my FD 50mm 1.4 beat it in sharpness too but I wanted to see someone else test it. :)
Thanks for sharing

 22.
Indeed, I found it at a local store in excellent condition for $200 and it even has the filters and looks like they were never used either. :)

 23.
So no this is not a film camera but the Sony NEX-6 with Lens Turbo 2 adapter so I hope it is fine with you.
I bought this lens to sell it (just like it happened with the FD 100mm F2) but I just cant let it go..I was really surprised with it!

Not having luck making the images show so just added one.
Sorry.
