Mike I understand what screws you speak of now, I'll try your steps later today. I understand that everything needs to be aligned, focusing ring, rangefinder etc, but by reading my previous post wouldn't you think something should have been in focus. Its as if the front element has no bearing on focusing even though the element turn and moves up and down the threads.

I didn't have a lot of time last night but I did notice before any "repair" that the focusing ring DID move the element. I later removed
the ring and tried focusing on anything under 13ft, I turned the element
until it came off in my hands and later turned until it was completely tightened...never a clear image. I don't think this could be a GG problem since I've used this on other cameras so the question is. Could it be the rear element?..I don't think so but I'm out of ideas

Mike, you wrote
1. Remove the screw on the focus dial, then the two underneith
2. Loosen the three set screws on the focus ring and remove it.
I understand step 2 since thats the only screws I see around the lens element but where are step 1 screws??

Yes this lens does have the back element group. I'll try retreading and or recollimating later tonight. Thanks guys

I decided to check the focus on my new Moskva 5 (Zeiss Ikonta C copy)
The rangefinder works fine but...
I always use fine polished hard plastic to lay on the film plain
(homemade ground glass) to check the accuracy of the focusing ring. To
my surprise NOTHING came into focus. I didn't try any objects past
15ft but everything stayed consistently out of focus i.e if I turned
the focusing rig the image celerity didn't change at all. The only way
I could see a clear image is if I put a +4 filter over the lens then I
could see something sharp about a foot away. So my question is, did a
lens element get reversed or lost during a bad repair job? or am I
doing something wrong, I've used this method with other cameras with

Sticking rebound on shutter
I own a Moskva 5 its the Russian copy of a Super Ziess Ikonta, so my
shutter
most be a close copy of a compur, All my shutter speeds sound strong
including 1 sec BUT
50% of the time the rebound (when the shutter comes to close) it
sticks open this only seems to happen if I'm holding the button down
all the way basically every speed becomes bulb. If I lightly tap the
casing it will close. If i lightly trip the shutter and don't push
all the way down it will fire perfectly.
250th and 100th always work perfect no sticking.
I've worked on a few simpler shutters in the past but I'm not sure if
I want to open this without some outside opinions.
Would a good flushing with Rosonal fix this? Would I have to soak the
entire shutter or could I put a drop or two in the correct area and
work it till it dries? Any info would help.

I've seen some cheap MOSKVA 5 and 2s floating around in great shape.
Who enjoys these cameras and who hates them? How does the lens hold up
to other MF cameras (i.e. Zeiss) Would like to know a few things
before I take the plunge.

Hello everyone, I just picked up a "Single Nettar" with the low end
75mm 6.3 Novar lens for 20 bucks, hey thats only a few bucks more
than a Holga! So my question is how bad or good are these cameras?
I'm a 35mm guy but sometimes enjoy cheap holgas or lubitels. Will the
Nettar blow me away with results? Also can anyone direct me to
websites and tuneup guides for the nettar.

I think I solved this one.
What I thought was the front element spinning in my hand and with the focusing ring was actually the entire front lens group.
Apparently this lens group divided up into two parts.
One (i think) should stay motionless and right above the shutter blades,
the second part (front lens element) was gummed up. So when I thought I was turning the focusing ring I was in reality turning the entire front lens group...no wonder it didn't focus.
Now I can adjust my inf. focus and RF alignment
What kind of grease do you guys prefer on focus threads?
