The horizon is centred, always better to go for a top or bottom third line. The outcrop is interesting in texture but it's taking up too much or too little of the frame (thirds again!). Maybe a higher viewpoint was impossible but a lower one with a shorter lens could have put it down in the bottom RH corner. Midday light is against you too - it look as if it might be more interesting later on. Finally I think you need a polariser for that sky, or an grad ND if you decided to go BW. Thanks, Rick

Lower sightline to align horizon with end of jetty. I would have distortedthis in PS to make the top of the handrails equal height. Good midtones with full tonal range Except no 100% whie (see histo) Nice choice of shutter speed, thanks, Rick. PS, lovely lens !!!

If found all these greys within 500 metres of where I live and suddenly realised that
there is beauty and harmony in those things we see every day in our 'grey' world.

I imagine there is a bit of HDR going on here? It may be a trick of the composition but the horizon looks ever so slghtly tilted CW. Also, although the position of the slab is perfect the marker pole is a little central for my tastes. I you can't open out any more (and you can't as you are at 24mm already) then moving back would have given you more sky (to drop the horizon below the midway point) and add a little more to the left to put the marker pole nearer a third, probably using a slightly more panoramic crop. It is a lovely photo though. Thanks, Rick

Lots of pics of this bridge. How cuold I have done better? Thanks

But begs for straightening

Too high key

for example

I think this would have benefitted from a crop and clone

Which is not a bad thing. But lack of focus is.

I think this is a well-treated HDR image but would suggest cropping in from the left for a square crop thus giving a more pleasing composition. There would would still be enough of the wall to the left to let the picture 'speak'. Thanks, Rick

But at this ISO you should not have noise. The haloing is the clue here, I think you have overcooked this in processing. If you have used LR then it is too much clarity. Thanks, Rick

Low light and a fast shutter speed made this very noisy on my D50.
Any thoughts?

Suggestions please and criticisms

hope you don't mind

I do like the composition and feel it is a little lacking in midrange contrast. If you fool with the curves a little there is more detail in those light areas and therefore more texture. I had a go with that and it worked nicely (see above)

After some time photographing things I am trying to get back to
people. This is a first attempt in a long time. Any opinions? Thanks,
Rick

Grateful for comments. Thanks, Rick

Dull day, straight into sun, huge exposure range so had to go HDR
route. Did I muck it up completely?

It will work well with clouds. Not a grey sky, but some clouds.

Great tonal range as well. The crop is to vertical and I think that cropping down to where the roof support nearest to the camera meets the wall would remove some dead space. Dead space also on the left which could have been avoided by moving to your right a little. Thanks, Rick
