  1. I have them both. My lady usues the D 70 and it is a very good camera. The only demand I put on any camera is that it take good pictures without "Glitches"..I am not a technical sort of person and could not tell you why one is supposed to be better than the other. I prefer the D100 because it seems more like my favorite camera of all time, the F5. I am a big person with large hands, it just fit me better than the D70 and performs as advertized..
  2. James...I bought a 5700 some two or three years ago..I was still learning how to operate it when I traded it off..To say the least none of the Cool Pix series seem to be very user friendly..One of the problems I had were my fingers accidently changing settings...Once I got it where I wanted it I took scotch tape and taped them all down...I have rather large hands and I think my problems stemmed from my big fingers changing settings ..Good luck with yours...
  3. I recently bought a D70/SB 800 in Houston at Houston Camera Exchange for less than what I could find on the web..I have been doing business with them for some twenty years. They are very reliable and support any purchase you make from them. I think B&H is also very competive and a good company to do business with.. But, In the long run I like to see what I am buying. Support to me is a very important issue.
  4. I made the mistake of shooting a bunch of pictures in NEF...I do not print my own for the most part...The lab I take my work to could not open a NEF file...I converted them to PSD..NEF files run around 34/35 MGs..PSD around 3/4 MGs..Nothing lost as far as I can tell..
  5. Iwould never buy any kind of camera on E/Bay and would be wary of of any expensive item. There was a piece on MyYahoo two or three days ago suggesting there is a "skull dugery" going on behind the scene. Let"the buyer beware"
  6. I use a SB28DX on a D100...Works great in all modes...I doubt any flash will work very good unless it is a digital flash...However I use a SB 26 on a 5700 and it works great. It will never show an ISO above 100. Do not ask me why, it just works...
  7. I wish to say how much PN has improved over then past years...It

seems not to long ago that it is was one "flame war' after

another..Cannon vs Nikon it seems any statement you made was met with

great distain....My compliments to PN and the moderators who have

made what it is today...It was bad..I just quit participating..

I wiah I had the money to buy one...But in reality how many of us can

justify buying one when a D70 or D100 would serve our purposes...Is

it a ego trip? I can see how professionals would use one. But how

many professionals do we have on this forum that can justify this

expense and have a real need for one?

  8. Presently I take my work (digital) to Photo Lab in Houston..They do

excellent work..I have been using them for 12/15 years...They charge

    me $.42 for a 4/6 copy...I presently have a HP1280..It is a great

printer for anything except "facil tones". My question is there such

thing as a printer for digital only that I would not have to profile

and do it at cost equal to or less than what I am now paying?

  9. I am a Shrine Photographer...We are guys who treat our patients at no

cost in one of our twenty three hospitals for burns, spinal cord

injuries and congenital diseases such as MS...I am allowed at times

to take under comtrolled circumstances photos of our patients, random

photos not allowed..This is very rewarding to me,,<div>009TXu-19610284.JPG.dca13829c2d53f0a79db742a83e4d066.JPG</div>

  10. I have the first model of an F5....I do not believe that you would find any changes that amount to anything...As far as I am concerned it is the best SLR ever made...It is very heavy ,especially with a battery pack...I use a Quantum Turbo (for fast recyle) with mine...It is very rugged and reliable....Also makes an excelent weapon..
